Different types of jadeite, be careful when buying

The types and contents of minerals in jade vary. Changes in their mineral composition and content directly affect the type of jade, and can even transform it into other types of jade. According to the mineral composition and mineral content, the types of jade are classified as follows:

Jadeite type: The mineral composition of this type of jade is mainly jadeite. It is mostly composed of jadeite, with very small amounts of diopside, amphibole and hematite. The vast majority of jade products on the market belong to this category.

Sodium feldspar jadeite type: also known as Ba San Jade Jade, it is a new type of jadeite discovered in northern Myanmar in 1983. It was named Ba San Jade, also known as "Bashan Jade", "Climbing Jade", etc. The jadeite content in this kind of jade is about 90%, and the albite content is about 8%, or more. Due to its loose internal structure and coarse particles, most of the Ba San jade needs optimization processing and is the main raw material for making B-grade jade.

Sodium Chrome Pyroxene Type: This type of jade is mainly composed of fine fibrous sodium Chrome Pyroxene. In addition to sodium Chrome Pyroxene, there are also small amounts of amphibole, jadeite, chromite and albite. It is commonly known as dry green variety in the market.

Diopside type: This type is mainly composed of diopside, with a jadeite content of about 5%, forming a common low-grade variety on the market. If it is composed entirely of omphacite, it can form jadeite.

Tianlongsheng Jade: Tianlongsheng Jade was formed in the Longken mining area in Myanmar. In 1991, green soil was discovered on the surface of Longken by Myanmar villagers, which became a sign of mineral prospecting. In 1994, the original outcrop of the ore body was discovered under the green soil sign, and more than 20 caves were mined successively. The ore body is ribbon-shaped and coiled like a dragon. Local people shouted "The birth of a dragon". In 1999, Tianlongsheng jadeite appeared in the markets of Yangon and Hong Kong. Due to the huge amount of mining, Tianlongsheng jadeite was basically mined out in 2000. The ore was hoarded by some companies, and the raw materials are still being traded in the market.

Tianlongsheng jadeite has a bright green color, and its mineral composition is mainly chromium-containing jadeite, as well as jadeite, hornblende, apatite, limonite, etc. The color is emerald green, particularly bright and uniform. Most Tianlong raw jade has a rough texture. In order to ensure that the jewelry has a certain water head, the thickness of the jewelry should be moderate (2-3mm), and some thin shapes such as leaves, insect wings, and petals are made, and the "pattern" of the structure inside the jade can be seen. There are also glass-like varieties with high transparency. The finished products are usually thinner and have rich colors, but the green color is darker.
