Common knowledge about jadeite: Tips on identifying A-grade jadeite!

I believe that many friends who have come into contact with jade know that jade is divided into A, B, C grades. Today we will talk about A-grade jade. What is A-grade jadeite? It refers to natural jade that has not been chemically treated such as filling and coloring. B-grade and C-grade jadeite refers to jadeite that has undergone a series of artificial processing such as dyeing and glue injection.

So how to identify A-grade jadeite? The editor has compiled some useful information for your reference.

Color: Differentiate whether the color is natural or artificially dyed. A-grade jade is natural in color, natural and rich in layers. The color of dyed jade floats on the surface, diverging and appearing chaotic.

Luster: The surface of A-grade jade is bright, delicate and smooth, and has strong reflectivity. The B-grade products, on the other hand, appear much rougher and some even have dents.

Structure: A-grade jade has a tight structure and is as transparent as glass. On the contrary, the structure of B goods is loose, and under transmitted light conditions, criss-crossing cracks can be seen inside.

Transparency: The transparency of A-grade jade is uneven, so the boundary between its transparent and opaque parts is clear.

Bubbles: Residual bubbles can be seen on the surface of B-grade jadeite that is filled with glue.

Impurities: When observing jadeite A under magnification, impurities of other colors can be seen; jadeite B has relatively no impurities.

Fly wings: This is one of the important signs for identifying A-grade jadeite. Fly wings refer to the small shiny surfaces on the surface of jadeite under the light, like wing-shaped flashes, which is a unique characteristic of jadeite. There are also certain tricks when observing "fly wings". You should focus on the reflective surface of the jade and try to avoid the better polished parts.

Orange peel effect: It refers to the fact that when A-grade jadeite is observed through reflection on the polished surface, it will have bumps and depressions similar to those of orange peel. If the boundary between the bumps and grooves is smooth, it means it is A-grade jade, while if there is a crack between the bumps and grooves, it means it is B-grade jade.

Tap: The sound produced by A-grade jade when tapped lightly is clear and like the sound of metal, while the sound produced by B-grade jade is dull.

Feel: Grade A rubber feels smooth and noticeably cool to the touch. B-grade products feel rough and sticky.
