The key points of appreciating the seven colors of jadeite in one sentence

green

Saturated, rich, not biased

Many collectors recognize that green is the most valuable color in jade. However, if there is no quality at all, the value of the jadeite will still not be high even if it is full green. For example, a piece of full green "Tielongsheng" raw material at a public auction in Myanmar had a starting price of only 80,000 yuan, but still no one was interested. You have to understand that even green must be delicate and transparent to have spirituality and beauty.

There are many descriptions about the green color of jade, such as green onion green, seedling green, spinach green, etc. In fact, these descriptions are not important. When looking at green, we need to see whether there are gray and black tones in it. If there are gray tones, the green will look "dirty"; if there are black tones, the color will become darker. The entry of gray and black tones will make the green jade look biased and "evil". Another problem is that the green has a white tint, which results in the green color of the jade being diluted, the color becoming lighter, and the saturation being reduced, making it much lower in value than green jade without a white tint.

There are two other situations, that is, the green is yellowish or bluish. The yellowish color is commonly known as boxwood green, the bluish color is commonly known as emerald green, and the color between the two is pure emerald green. Generally speaking, a slight bluish or yellowish tint in green is acceptable and does not affect its value much. The value of green is reflected in the saturation and richness of the color.

Purple

Delicate, rich

Purple is also called "violet" or "spring". Jadeite that has both green and purple colors is called "Spring Color". Jadeite comes in four colors: yellow, green, purple and white, and is also known as Fu, Lu, Shou and Xi.

Strictly speaking, the output of purple jade is not particularly small. It is more than red jade. Its blocks are larger, and most of them are lotus root powder. Usually, the crystal grains are coarse and the transparency is lower. The truly valuable violets are the high-quality varieties.

At present, purple jade is greatly polarized. The price of purple jade with very fine quality and rich color has risen sharply, forming a sharp contrast with the general purple jade with light and dark color and rough texture, and the gap between the two is getting bigger and bigger. Originally, a good violet bracelet cost only tens of thousands of yuan, but now the price has risen to 400,000 to 500,000 yuan. A full-color violet bracelet, due to its lighter color, only costs 10,000 to 20,000 yuan.

red

Be transparent, not red hot

The red color in jade is more valuable than the yellow color, and its output is far less than the yellow color. From a sensory perspective, red is richer and more beautiful than yellow, but not all reds have high value. Only those red jadeites with good quality and transparency are rare and valuable. These red jadeites are made into red ring faces, flower pieces, peace buckles, etc., which are rare and good things and have good appreciation potential.

However, there is a problem with collecting red jadeite. That is, a kind of "burned red" jadeite can often be seen in the market. Such red jadeite is not worth collecting. The value of red jadeite lies in its rarity and natural nature, while "burned red" red jadeite is not only not rare, but also different from natural jadeite. It has no appreciation potential and collection value. The surface of the “burned red” red jadeite often forms a uniform layer of red, which is not beautiful and lacks vitality. Merchants often do not admit that it is “burned red”, but experts can easily tell the difference.

yellow

To be transparent and gorgeous

The yellow color in jade is sometimes an advantage and sometimes a disadvantage, and requires specific analysis in different situations.

Generally speaking, yellow will only become an advantage of jadeite when the color is transparent, the texture is fine, and the yellow is very rich and beautiful. These yellow colors are often used in clever carvings to add a lot of color to the jade. However, dull yellow color and poor water content are often the shortcomings of jadeite, or "dirty" in the words of the industry. For example, if a jade bracelet has yellow spots or yellow spots, it will have a negative impact on the value of the bracelet. But on the other hand, this phenomenon is helpful for identification - collectors can determine that the jade is A-grade based on the characteristics of yellow spots and yellow spots.

If a bracelet has three colors of green, yellow and purple at the same time, it is also called "Fu Lu Shou" and is more valuable than jadeite with only green color. The jade lovers at the scene cast envious eyes at the winner of this auction item, as he had undoubtedly found a great "treasure". In fact, the higher the price of jade, the better it is. Instead, you should look for jade that is not expensive and has collection value.

black

The darker the better under natural light, the greener the better after lighting.

The black jade is the black jadeite available on the market today. Black jade was not recognized by the mainstream in the past, but with the love for black jade in Taiwan, its market value has been discovered. In the eyes of black jade lovers, black jade has a deep color and has the meaning of warding off evil and avoiding danger. However, black jade is not currently the mainstream variety in the market. As more and more people accept it, it has great room for appreciation.

White

Pure white

Glass-type jade must be white and pure enough. In the old jade system, white itself is a color without value. However, in recent years, with the rise of glass-type jade, the value of white glass-type jade has gained new recognition. For white glass-type jade, the standard for measuring its color value is whether it is pure and white enough - the purer and whiter it is, the more valuable it is. The white glass-type jade that we often see with yellowish or bluish tones are not as valuable as pure white glass-type jade.

If the white glass contains positive green color, its value is higher than that of pure white glass. However, in general, the color of good glass-type jade with sunny green is usually not too dark. In practice, there are some misunderstandings about this point. For example, many people mistake the "floating blue flowers" in white ice or white glass types as green. As long as you observe carefully, you will find that these floating colors are dark green. Some merchants will describe this situation as glass type with green, but in fact it is "floating blue flowers." The value of glass-type jadeite with "floating blue flowers" is lower than that of clean pure white glass-type jadeite.

blue

Blue, transparent, old, delicate, good water head

Blue Water used to be a branch of You Qing. Later, as more and more people liked it, it was gradually separated out as an independent concept in Taiwan. Therefore, Oil Green is often confused with Blue Water.

Blue water jadeite has a uniform, light blue color. But blue water does not simply refer to the color. It also requires that the soil is old, delicate, the water head is good and the transparency is high, and then it is matched with the color to be called such a name.

Blue water jadeite rarely reaches the glass grade. Generally, blue water jadeite that reaches the glass grade has good fluorescence effect. Even if the color is slightly gray, the price can be as high as tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of yuan. If the color is pure blue and has no defects, it is the best blue water jadeite. The price of the color closer to pure blue will be relatively higher, between 5,000 and 6,000 yuan. If the jade quality reaches the glutinous grade and has a high transparency, although the color is grayish, the price is not cheap. The price of a general pendant will range from 5,000 to nearly 10,000 yuan. If such a pendant is pure blue, its price will be relatively high, ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 yuan to 60,000 to 70,000 yuan.

In short, for all colors of jade, the brighter and more uniform, the higher its value, which is also in line with the basic aesthetic psychology of the public.
