B-grade jade is jade that has been artificially bleached and filled. New jade lovers who are new to the industry are most afraid of buying B-grade jade, but are also most likely to buy B-grade jade. Because B-grade jadeite generally looks very transparent and attractive, and its price sounds like a great value. Of course, this great value is compared with the price of natural jadeite. So, even though I knew I had to avoid buying fakes, I still took the medicine. A new jadeite enthusiast bought jadeite three times in a row, and all of them were B-grade jade. Later, he simply gave up. It’s just B-goods, it looks beautiful anyway, just wear it as if it’s real! To be honest, as long as you don’t have extremely sensitive skin, there is no big problem with wearing B-grade jade. The real problem is that you spend tens of thousands of dollars to buy something that only costs tens of dollars. Can you feel good about it? Today, I will give you a detailed illustration so that we can have a more intuitive understanding of how B-grade jadeite is made. It can also help you understand the essence of B-grade jadeite, making it easier to distinguish and identify it. 1. Material selection Not all materials are suitable for making B-grade jadeite. Counterfeiters always choose jadeite raw materials that have a loose structure but a bit of color. The bases of these raw stones are generally yellowish, grayish or even brown. In other words, the bases are not clean, the texture is poor, and they are of no value. 2. Cutting Cut the selected material into sheets of a certain thickness first, so that it can be processed more thoroughly during pickling and glue injection. 3. Pickling and bleaching (the most important step) Generally speaking, the most commonly used acid for pickling is nitric acid, and sometimes hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, etc. are also chosen. The purpose of pickling is to remove other colors and impurities in the jade material except green. This step is very important. The more thoroughly the colored impurities are washed, the more transparent the B-grade jade will be. 4. Alkaline washing to increase clearance After pickling, the internal gaps of the jade material are small, so it is not easy to fill it fully with glue, so we have to find a way to increase the internal gaps. The method used by counterfeiters is to soak the acid-washed jade material in a heated sodium hydroxide solution to increase the gaps inside the jade. The internal structure of the jade materials has been severely damaged after acid washing and alkali washing, causing them to be easily damaged. 5. Glue injection. After going through the above steps, the jadeite is full of cracks, which are very obvious and fragile. Counterfeiters need to fill these cracks and increase the durability of the jade. That is why they choose to inject colorless, transparent and fluid glue polymers into jade to fill the gaps and increase the firmness of jade. The colloid polymers generally used in the B-grade jadeite available on the market now are phenoxy resin, polystyrene resin, etc. After the glue injection is completed, the jade looks very clean and transparent. 6. Gluing, grinding and polishing After completing the above steps, the counterfeiter will prepare for the final processing. They take out the glue-injected jade directly when the glue inside is half dry and put it into the baking equipment to bake. After baking, it is then ground and polished. In this way, B-grade jadeite with a cost of only tens of dollars was born, and then flowed into the jadeite market through various channels and sold for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. fcgc66 fcpf18 |
