The biggest highlight of the winning jadeite works at the Baihua Jade Awards is its creativity!

The China Jewelry and Jade Hundred Flowers Award, formerly part of the China Arts and Crafts Hundred Flowers Award, is a national government award. It is specially established for jade carving and can be said to be the honor that all contemporary jade industry practitioners dream of. The following work is the silver medal winner of the 2016 Hundred Flowers Awards: The author of this work is Mi Leiyu, and the theme of the work is "Plum, Orchid, Bamboo and Chrysanthemum", which is a traditional Chinese carving subject. All four brands are made from the same material, with icy blue flowers, delicate texture and a slight cottoniness.

The material itself has very good quality and texture, and is full of classical charm. It matches well with traditional plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum. Different from simple carvings of flowers, plants and trees, the sculptor designed human figures in this work to create a picture full of story.

The dark floating flower area on the left is used as a figure, and the back of a graceful woman facing a plum blossom is carved out. His expression is peaceful, as if he is in deep thought, but also as if he is smiling.

Orchids have always been praised as the gentleman of flowers, with elegant demeanor and extraordinary temperament. The author was ingenious and carved the orchid on the top of the sign, and still used the dark part as the figure in the lower part, carving out an old man sitting cross-legged with a guqin on his knees.

Bamboo has always been a symbol of integrity in traditional Chinese culture. In this work, bamboo grows among rocks, with a hollow inside and straight outside, and luxuriant branches and leaves. An old man with plain clothes, white hair and a long beard stood tall and stared at the bamboo.
