Jade Maitreya: In adversity, we must learn to smile

Maitreya, or Buddha, is one of the most familiar and common jade carving themes. Influenced by traditional Chinese culture, Maitreya in Chinese Buddhism has gradually evolved into the Buddha statue with the richest expressions and movements among many Buddha statues. Among them, the most iconic is his ever-changing hearty laugh.

Like the famous Mona Lisa’s smile, Maitreya’s smile also makes people very curious. What is he smiling at? Why are you laughing? For this question, perhaps everyone has his or her own feelings, but generally speaking, they are inseparable from the following three:

A smile for happiness

What is joy? Happiness means joy , so when people are happy, they can't help but laugh.

The body has pain and pleasure, the mind has sorrow and joy. Joy is a kind of psychological and spiritual pleasure and satisfaction. For example, getting first place in an exam, passing an interview, or winning the lottery are all happy events worth laughing about.

Two smiles for appearance

What is tolerance? Tolerate, embrace, be forgiving, tolerate everything in the world, and laugh at ridiculous people.

The sea embraces all rivers. Tolerance is a kind of life wisdom and also a human virtue . It is manifested in tolerance towards oneself and tolerance towards others. Be tolerant of oneself with optimism and be tolerant of others with open-mindedness. People who are optimistic and open-minded in their hearts will naturally smile often.

Three smiles for pain

What is suffering? Suffering, adversity.

The world kisses me with pain, I will repay it with songs. The world inflicts on me with suffering, I will repay it with a smile as beautiful as a flower. There has never been a smooth life. Only the unyielding and tenacious spirit can help us overcome difficulties and challenges head-on.

At this time when the whole nation is facing adversity, we must use smiles to dispel the haze and usher in a spring full of hope.
