Did you notice? The composition of jade is very complex. The complex composition makes the state of jade different, so the quality of jade can be roughly divided into glass, ice, glutinous and bean types, and the colors are even more rich and colorful, including ink, green, yellow, purple, etc. How is the color of jade formed? There are different color-causing factors inside jade, so the colors it presents are different. So what are the common color-causing factors? green Green is the most common color of jadeite. Red, green, emerald and purple are the most valuable. Green jadeite is emerald. Jadeite appears green because it contains chromium ions inside. The content of chromium ions directly affects the depth of green. The higher the chromium ion content, the deeper the green of the jadeite. I won’t introduce the green gold in detail. black In Chinese culture, black is the most advanced color and is the favorite color of the ancient royal family besides yellow and purple. The ancients believed that black has a strong effect of warding off evil spirits and eliminating disasters, and is the color that represents justice. Some green jade contains too much chromium, so its surface looks black. When illuminated by a strong light source, black jade looks green. In fact, black jade is still a type of green jade. Purple Purple jade is also called spring. Purple jade varies in shades, including pink purple, blue purple, and eggplant purple. There are different opinions in the industry about the formation of the purple color of violet jade. Some people believe that the purple color of jade is caused by the electron transition between divalent iron and trivalent iron, while others believe that the jade turns purple due to the appearance of manganese ions inside. Red and yellow Red jadeite and yellow jadeite have one thing in common: they are both secondary colors of jadeite. After jade is formed and exposed on the surface, the color formed by the invasion of color-causing factors is secondary color. When the iron element invades the jadeite raw stone, it will form yellow jadeite or red jadeite. Because it is the same color-causing factor that invades, the red and yellow jadeite look somewhat similar. Sometimes when we look at a piece of jadeite, we will feel that it looks like yellow and red. There is also a kind of jade that if the iron element is distributed in stars on the jade, it will form gold sprinkled jade. Some people think that the gold sprinkled is a flaw of jade, while others think that this is a rare high-quality jade. In fact, whether the gold sprinkled is an advantage or a flaw depends mainly on the color and state of the gold sprinkled. Oil green The focus that Xiao Jin wants to talk about today is "Oil Green Jade". As a type of jade, Oil Green Jade has always been controversial. Is it valuable? Through research and analysis, the former type of oily green jade does not contain chromium but contains more than 1% of divalent iron ions. The latter type of oily green jade contains trace amounts of chromium and iron. In addition, there is a kind of dark green jadeite called Youqing, which has good water content, but its hardness is only 5.5~6. Its specific gravity and refractive index are very different from those of jadeite. After research, it was found that its interior mainly contains omphacite, followed by jadeite. It does not contain chromium, but contains iron. It is called omphacite jade or omphacite jadeite. Original color oil green Among the oily green jadeite, there is a distinction between primary oily green and secondary oily green. Native oily green jade is composed of iron-containing pyroxene minerals such as diopside. Since it is colored by Fe2+, the green color tends to be gray and dark, thus reflecting the oily green color. Secondary color oil green The secondary oily green color is mainly formed by the penetration of some chlorite clay substances into the gaps and micro cracks of the jadeite minerals that make up jade. Due to the different causes of their colors, the values of the two are also obviously different. The original oily green jadeite is a mid-to-high-end jadeite with a higher price, while the secondary oily green jadeite is a mid-to-low-end jadeite with a relatively low price. Different coloring factors bring us jade of different colors. Nature is really magical. Which color of jade do you prefer?
