1/ Magnifying glass oblique lighting method When observed with a 40x magnifying glass under side lighting, you can clearly see that the surface of A-grade jade is as smooth as a mirror, with a strong glassy luster. Even small sand holes and pits will appear in the form of triangles or polygonal strips at the junction of the mineral grains. The sand holes and pits of B-grade jadeite mostly appear in the form of dissolution holes, which are characterized by being round, deep, black, and with blunt edges. In addition, the surface of B-grade jadeite is covered with lines, with curved, criss-crossing webs and tree-branch-like grooves, just like an aged asphalt road.
2/ Voice Identification When distinguishing between A and B grade jade bracelets, you can do so by listening to the sound. If the jade has no cracks, lift up a jade bracelet with your fingers, pick up another bracelet or other hard object and tap gently. Be sure to tap gently, as using too much force will damage the jade bracelet or affect the judgment of the sound. Generally speaking, the sound of A-grade jade is crisp, long-lasting, and metallic, while the sound of B-grade jade is dull and hoarse.
3/ Strong light exposure method Jade is usually illuminated by a strong flashlight. Generally speaking, the green of A-grade jade has a colored head and tail, and also has spots with light and dark transitions in the form of strips. However, under strong light, the green of C-grade jade is distributed in the form of thin lines around the grains or in the cracks.
4/ Visual observation The counterfeiting of jadeite is mainly done by using glass or other jade materials to impersonate jadeite, or by dyeing low-grade jadeite and selling it at high prices. Therefore, the identification of finished jade products is mainly to distinguish the authenticity of jade and to judge the grade of jade. Without the aid of other tools, the identification of jadeite still relies on observation with the naked eye, so the identification environment should also be paid attention to. It should be observed in sufficient light, usually from 9 am to 3 pm. The green seen at this time is the same as the original green. The green color will appear inferior after 3 pm. Rich green jade should not be viewed in the sun, and light green jade should not be viewed in the shade. When looking at jadeite, it is generally not advisable to look at it in direct light; just look at it in a bright place.
