Do you know how jadeite rough stones are polished and cut?

Do you know how jadeite raw stones are polished and cut? From raw materials to finished products, jade processing requires a series of processes. In this regard, the Chinese have unique craftsmanship and operational experience. They can make full use of the raw materials and maximize the characteristics of the raw materials to achieve the most perfect artistic effect while saving materials.

Do you know how jadeite raw stones are polished and cut? If you don’t know, please listen to me tell you one by one.

1. Peel

Place the jadeite rough stone on the angle grinder, and then use small hand movements to remove the skin of the jadeite rough stone. This process will inevitably leave some marks on the surface of the jadeite raw stone. You don’t need to worry too much about this. Instead, you should be more careful not to get injured when peeling. If conditions permit, it is best to wear protective gear such as cut-resistant gloves and goggles.

2. Digging Dirt

Although the skin has been removed, there are still some impurities on the skin that are deeply embedded in the interior of the jadeite raw stone, so various grinding heads should be used to grind off these impurities at this time. When the grinding head feels more strained, it usually means that these impurities have been removed.

3. Remove roughness

The coarsest grinding head is usually used in the first two steps to save time, but when it comes to the roughening step, a grinding head of a different grade must be replaced.

4. Fine grinding

At this time, use the finest diamond grinding head (usually white). Slowly, you will find that the surface of the original stone begins to flash "precious light".

5. Polishing

This step can be divided into two steps: the first step is rough polishing, using oil stone or sandpaper to grind the surface of the raw stone until no obvious marks can be felt when you touch the surface of the jade with your hand; the second step is fine polishing, using a bamboo stick dipped in diamond powder paste to repeatedly rub the surface of the jade. When the bamboo stick starts to slip, it means that the jadeite raw stone is about to be polished successfully.

How to cut jadeite raw stone?

1. Material review

What we are going to cut is not an ordinary stone, but a precious raw stone wrapped in jade. Careful analysis of the jade raw stone before cutting can effectively avoid damaging the jade inside the raw stone during the cutting process. The process of reviewing materials is just like the process of a doctor studying the condition of a patient. Only after having an understanding of the patient's symptoms can the right medicine be prescribed.

2. Slicing

The so-called slicing refers to the first cut in cutting jadeite. After this cut, we will have a general understanding of the original stone. If there are cracks on the original stone, the first cut should be made from the crack.

III. Second Instance

After slicing, the interior of the raw stone is revealed. At this time, we need to examine the raw stone again. In this process, we need to understand the green distribution of the raw stone, find the worst part of the raw stone, and start from this part to avoid damaging the high-quality parts of the raw stone.

4. Cutting

After several inspections, we will continue cutting the jadeite raw stone. Continuing cutting requires greater physical and mental strength from the cutter, because this time the cut will not be just one cut, but will be cut step by step until most of the skin is cut off, so that the jadeite in the original stone is completely exposed before our eyes. When cutting the material, the cutter holds the cutting machine in his hand and slices it step by step, slowly exposing the jade. This process is very laborious because if you are not careful, the sharp cutter in your hand will damage the green part.

After the cutting is completed, the raw stone is officially "cut", and the price of a piece of raw stone is fully reflected.
