In early 2007, the turnover of Christie's jewelry and jadeite auction in Hong Kong reached 291 million yuan. By the autumn of the same year, the turnover of jewelry and jadeite auction soared to 364 million yuan, and the top 10 transaction prices all exceeded 10 million Hong Kong dollars. The auction market is booming! It reveals the heat of the market and its room for growth, and judging from the items auctioned, the appreciation potential for personal investment in jade is even more attractive. At a Christie's auction held in Geneva in 1988, Princess Nina Mdivani's blue-green jadeite necklace was sold for a high price of approximately HK$15 million. In 1994, the necklace appeared again at a Christie's auction in Hong Kong and was sold for HK$33.02 million, more than doubling in value in five years.

For the wealthy class, financial planning is a necessity for life planning. The recent global economic crisis has caused investors to doubt financial products and real estate investments. At this time, jade collection lacks a unique product. Thanks to the advancement of technology, the identification of jade has become very mature and the cost is not high. High-end jadeite sold by brand merchants comes with testing certificates from authoritative departments, allowing investors to be more worry-free and at ease. Compared with securities investment, the unpredictable nature of the market changes can cause even experienced investors to stumble. The appraisal of jadeite not only provides continuous experience and a sense of accomplishment, but also gives investors the pleasure of appreciating and playing with jade; however, the appraisal of antiques and calligraphy and paintings still mostly relies on manual labor and expert eyesight, with too many uncontrollable factors and excessive technical risks.

A room full of gold is no match for a wall of jade. A small jade bracelet may contain capital value of tens of millions of yuan. Without being conspicuous, jewelry can add elegance and show the owner's social status and taste without attracting attention. The lightness and luxury of jade are very suitable for the Oriental people's cultural psychology of being reserved and not fond of showing off their wealth.
