There is no need to carve the humble tri-color jadeite sheet again. I don’t want to drool after receiving it!

Today I would like to share with you a piece of tri-color jadeite from the Damakan mine. Judging from the picture below, many people must think that there is no need to carve it again. This piece of material is rough and has cracks, and the overall cost-effectiveness is very low. It is the material that is worthless in everyone's eyes, but it is the material that best reflects the value of the jade carver. As the saying goes, there are useless people but no useless materials . Keep reading, the surprise is always at the end!

After analyzing the shape and color distribution of the jade material, the jade carver decided to keep the shape of the jade material and do free-form carving, using green and yellow to create color matching. The first draft was finalized as the theme of enlightenment: the yellow jade color at the bottom is rock, and the monk is meditating on the rock for enlightenment and Zen, and the green in the middle is gourd and vine leaves.

However, when the jade carver was making the rough draft, he found that although this design was ingenious, the jade material had a lot of white cotton and a slightly coarse crystal structure. If the carving was kept according to the original draft, the finished product would have a large number of polished areas, and the most taboo thing about polished surfaces is white cotton and coarse crystals, which would greatly affect the appearance and value.

Therefore, the draft was revised midway: the free-form carving and the green color design in the middle of the original draft were maintained, but the plain monk was changed to an elder with complex carving, with complex lines to block the impact of coarse crystals on the beauty of the character, and the smooth background in the middle was removed by hollow carving. Through these two changes, the white cotton was removed and the coarse crystal defects of the jade were covered up.

After carving out the rough embryo, the jade carver came up with an optimization idea: instead of making the yellow color at the bottom look like rock, it would be better to make it a close-up of the gourd vine. This change makes the pattern combination of the entire work more reasonable and the visual effect more beautiful.

After the carving is completed, if you carefully appreciate the rough work, you will find that the flaws of the original jade material are difficult to see. The jade carver has only retained the yellow and green parts of the jade material through carving techniques, and the subject matter of the creation has made full use of these two colors. This carving inspiration is really admirable!

The finished product after polishing is very beautiful, the yellow and green dual-color jade, plus the unique creation, isn’t this exactly what a fine jade needs?
