What should you pay attention to when investing in jadeite raw stones?

What should you pay attention to when investing in jadeite raw stones?

1. Check the crystallization of the leather

Generally speaking, the rough skin of jadeite raw stone has large crystals, soft structure, low hardness and poor transparency, and is an inferior quality of jadeite. Fine leather has small crystals, tight structure, fine texture, high hardness and good transparency. Among them, the leather with black or black-red and shiny color is the best.

2. Check the green

The amount of green and the quality of the color determine the quality and value of jadeite. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to infer the condition of the green inside the gravel by observing the various signs of the green part inside the gravel showing on the surface. The amount of green is related to the shape and distribution characteristics of the green part.

The green parts in jadeite that are concentrated in clusters and strips are more valuable. When this kind of green appears on the epidermis, it often appears in the form of clumps or lines, and sometimes in the form of flakes. When green appears in large flakes on the epidermis, it is mostly epidermal green, and there is often no green inside; when green appears in lines or clusters on the epidermis, especially when the green lines exposed on the epidermis are symmetrically distributed, the green will extend inward and even run through the entire gravel. The value of the latter is naturally higher than the former, and the green color is related to the mineral components that present green. Generally speaking, the color of jadeite is better than the green color of diopside, hectomanite and nephrite. Jade has high hardness and strong resistance to weathering. Therefore, on the outer skin, most of them are relatively protruding, while other minerals are relatively concave. The former is more valuable than the latter.

3. Check for cracks

In addition to observing the skin and identifying the color, when evaluating jade raw materials, you should also pay attention to the development of cracks (commonly known as fissures). Of course, the fewer cracks the better. In the jade raw material market, jade merchants often cut off a small part of the outer skin and polish the cut to show the texture and color of the jade. This kind of cut mouth is called "menzi" in jargon. In order to make more money, jade merchants try their best to open the door in the place that can best show the texture and color of the gambling stone. Therefore, when evaluating the door, you must carefully check the door and the surrounding situation, make a comprehensive comparison and analysis, and remember not to overestimate the green shown by the door.

4. Beware of counterfeiting and fraud

Because jade has obvious unevenness, its color and texture have great variations and differences, and it is difficult for ordinary people to grasp its authenticity and quality. The value between good and bad jade is very different. Coupled with the strong "gambling nature" in the raw material transaction, some unscrupulous businessmen often use any means to fake jade raw materials in order to make huge profits. For example, if the texture and green color shown after cutting the door are not ideal, they will use a piece of good jade to stick inside the door to deceive the buyer, and so on.

In fact, even with advanced technology today, there is no instrument that can accurately detect the quality of jade through its outer skin. When the jade raw materials are excavated, they are covered with a layer of rock skin. No one still can tell what is inside the skin, so gambling on jade does rely on some luck. However, if you can learn more methods and techniques, learn more from other people's experience, and add some luck, wouldn't your chances of winning be greater?
