The identification method of jadeite is "outdated and invalid", even the water identification knows it, did you know this?

What people in the jade circle are most concerned about is the authenticity of jade. Therefore, many people have developed many methods to identify the authenticity of jade. As the saying goes, the devil is always one step taller than the saint. Although there are identification methods to identify the authenticity of jade, there are endless ways to counterfeit, which makes many identification methods outdated or invalid. So here I will tell you about the "outdated and invalid" identification methods of jade.

The reason why Teacher Cao tells you about these "outdated and invalid" identification methods is mainly to prevent you from being deceived by merchants, because they often use these outdated and invalid identification methods to fool you into buying jadeite.

  • Water dripping method

As we all know, this method is to drop water onto jade. If it is natural jade, round water droplets will appear on its surface, but if it is fake, then it is not. Originally, this method was useful a long time ago. After all, it makes use of the tension phenomenon on the smooth surface of jade. To put it more clearly, this phenomenon will only occur when there is a sufficiently smooth curvature on the surface of an object.

However, the B-grade jadeite that was processed in the early days has backward craftsmanship, and there will be obvious acid-etched net patterns and pits on the surface. At this time, water drops will form round beads on it, making it easy for people to think that jadeite that cannot form round water drops is a fake.

In fact, with modern technology, since the last step in jade processing is polishing and waxing, which can make it indistinguishable from the real thing, when water drops are dropped on it, it will form certain round beads just like natural jade, so this method of identification is no longer valid.

  • Hand feel method

This identification method makes use of the characteristics of jade. It is generally believed that jade will feel cool after being touched for a short time, and then tend to body temperature. Therefore, people can identify the authenticity of jade by touching it and feeling its cool feeling. In fact, in today's era, this method is no longer effective. After all, many natural jades have this characteristic. Their own temperature is affected by the external temperature. As long as it is lower than the temperature of the human body, it will feel cool. If you want to feel this phenomenon deeply, you can expose the jade to high temperature and then touch it with your hand, and you will find out whether it is cool or hot.

The above two are "outdated and invalid" identification methods for jadeite. Of course, there are many outdated ones, and Teacher Cao will not list them one by one here. If you know anything, please leave a comment.
