According to the experience summarized by countless predecessors, the identification of jade can be simply summarized as " one look, two touch, three feel, four listen ". What are the specific instructions?

Look: It means that when choosing jadeite, the first thing to do is to observe the jadeite. What you need to look at are the characteristics of jadeite, such as its structure, transparency or color, check whether there are any defects, or judge its authenticity by observing the luster of jadeite. Natural jadeite generally has glass luster, sub-glass luster or semi-glass luster. Jade that has been artificially treated generally has a waxy luster, while some jades, such as Hetian jade and Xiuyan jade, have an oily luster.

It is difficult to tell whether jade is real or fake with the naked eye, so you can prepare a magnifying glass and first observe whether there are any tiny cracks on the surface of the jade. If it is A-grade jadeite, there will be no cracks on the surface. If it is B-grade or C-grade jadeite, there will be tiny cracks on the surface. Secondly, you can also judge by observing the color roots inside the jade. A-grade jade has color roots inside, while fake jade has no color roots inside.

Touch: Jade has high hardness and dense and delicate structure. After polishing, the surface feels smooth and has a soft and delicate feel. Of course, this method requires you to look at and touch more, and have more contact with jade to gain experience.

Weigh: The density of jadeite is 3.30-3.36g/cm3, which is higher than other natural jades such as Hetian jade, Xiuyan jade, Dushan jade, but lower than grossular garnet. Therefore, jadeite feels heavy when you weigh it, and you can roughly distinguish it from other jades by its weight.

Listen: You can also judge the authenticity of jade products by carefully listening to the sound of collision between them. Natural jade, especially jade of good quality, will make a very crisp and pleasant sound when struck. Moreover, each part has the same sound, while fake jade has a dull sound, and each part has a different sound.
