How to identify jadeite?

Identification with the naked eye requires analyzing the following aspects of the object you see: What is the quality, water quality and color of the object? Is the germplasm harmonized? Are the colors natural? Are the colors and shapes natural? Look carefully (or use a magnifying glass) to see how the colors are distributed. When you weigh the real thing, does it feel like A-grade jade is heavy? Does the luster of the real object have the near-glass luster of jadeite? Is the base color too clean? Are there any observable traces of processing, such as acid etching patterns, color mesh distribution, etc.

1. Look at the jade quality:

When jade is exposed to light, the cleavage surfaces of the grains that make up the jade crystals reflect light. The bright white reflections look like those of fly wings, so they are also called "fly wings" (where the arrow points). "Fly wings" often appear in long strips or irregular flakes, and are easier to observe in unpolished or coarsely structured jade.

2. Look at the "orange peel effect":

When observing the polished surface of A-grade jadeite through reflection, bumps and depressions of different sizes and directions similar to those of orange peel will appear, which insiders call the "orange peel effect" (left picture). B and C grade jadeite has acid etching marks caused by strong acid and alkali erosion (right picture), which look like dry earth.
