Can jade be scratched?

Can jade be scratched? In everyone's impression, the hardness of jade should be very high. Some friends bought a finished jade product, and after wearing it for a while, they found scratches or some small pits on it, and they worried that there might be something fishy.

Everything should be scientific. Everyone knows that jade is a natural polycrystalline mixed mineral. This kind of natural mixed mineral will naturally have some places with a loose structure, perhaps because of polishing, or perhaps because of natural falling off due to impact during daily wear.

There will be small dents in a small part of the place. It is normal to have such small dents due to the innate physical properties. So will there be scratches formed later? The picture shows a comparison table of Mohs hardness, which indicates that the hardness of jade is between 6.5-7.

It is the ordinary glass we come into contact with in daily life, and its hardness is similar to that of our teeth. When you go to an old department store, you have seen that the glass display cabinets are all covered with scratches. You may also have broken a tooth while eating because of a small piece of bone. If it really cannot be scratched, then how do we carve jade? So it’s not that a material of this hardness cannot be scratched. So what should you do if it gets scratched? There are two ways to solve this problem.

First, if the scratches are relatively shallow, you can re-wax the car and do a deep waxing. The wax will smooth out the shallow marks.

Secondly, if the scratch is deep, it needs to be sent to a special place for readjustment and polishing again. After this treatment, your jade product will be no different from a brand new one, just like you can repair a broken or cracked tooth.
