Turquoise is a high-quality jade material. In the Qing Dynasty of China, it was called the gem of heaven and regarded as a sacred object of good luck and happiness. The color of turquoise varies depending on the elements it contains. When the oxide contains copper, it is blue, and when it contains iron, it is green. Among them, the best quality ones are blue, dark blue, opaque or slightly transparent, with uniform color, soft luster and no brown iron wire.

High-quality turquoise is mainly used to make curved ring faces, brooches, earrings, etc. Those of average quality are used to make various styles of necklaces, bracelets, clothing, etc.

Large pieces are used for carving handicrafts, mostly expressing content of goodness and beauty, such as Buddha statues, immortals, cranes, fairies, landscape pavilions, flowers, birds, insects, fish, people and animals, etc. The statue of "Li Shizhen Picking Herbs" in the Hubei Hall of the Great Hall of the People is carved from turquoise.

In ancient times people associated it with religion. Tibetans have a special reverence for turquoise. People in the Mongolian and Tibetan regions like to inlay turquoise on knives, hats, and clothes. It is still a sacred decoration used in religious ceremonies.

Most ancient civilizations admired turquoise, such as Egypt, Persia, Aztec (the ancient Mexican Indian country), etc. Long-term wearing can help detoxify and clear liver fire in the human body.

Turquoise is one of China's "Four Famous Jades". Since the Neolithic Age, there have been many turquoise products in cultural relics of successive dynasties. It is a traditional jade with a long history and rich resources.

The ancients called it "Bidianzi", "Qinglanggan", etc., and Europeans called it "Turkish jade" or "Turkic jade". Türkiye does not produce turquoise. It is believed that turquoise was produced in ancient Persia and transported to Europe via Türkiye, so people thought it was produced in Türkiye and got the name.

In 1927, Mr. Zhang Hongzhao, a senior figure in the Chinese geology community, explained in his famous book "Shi Ya": "This (referring to turquoise) may be shaped like a pine cone, and its color is close to pine green, hence the name." This means that turquoise is called "turquoise" because its natural output is often in the form of nodules or balls, and its color is like the green of pine trees. It can be said to be very vivid, and it can also be simply referred to as "turquoise".

5,500 years ago, ancient Egypt was mining turquoise on the Sinai Peninsula. During the First Dynasty, the Egyptian king sent a well-organized and guarded labor force of two to three thousand people to search for and mine turquoise.

While excavating ancient Egyptian tombs, archaeologists discovered that Egyptian kings had been wearing turquoise beads as early as 5500 BC.

Turquoise is recognized as the "December birthstone" both at home and abroad. It represents victory and success and has the reputation of "stone of success".
