The meaning of different colors of jade

The meaning of different colors of jade

Jade is nourished by nature and its color is the most brilliant and colorful. It is one of the first choices for many people when choosing jewelry.

The color of jade is quite varied, and no one has seriously counted how many colors there are. There is a saying among the people that there are "thirty-six kinds, seventy-two beans, and one hundred and eight blues". Which colors of jade are the most popular? The nine colors of jade also have different meanings. The green, purple, white, red, yellow, white, gray, blue and orange in jade are used to express good wishes and yearnings.

Different meanings of different colors of jade

1. White Jade

Jade with very pure chemical composition appears white or nearly colorless because it does not contain pigment ions. White jade is produced in large quantities, but most of it is not of high value. At the end of the last century, nearly colorless or white glass and ice jadeite were discovered and produced. Although this kind of jade is almost colorless, it has a delicate texture and is as transparent as water. With its luster and extraordinary elegance, it has become a new favorite among jade collectors.

2. Gray Jade

Gray jade represents warmth and peace. It embodies a kind of ethereality and nothingness, and represents the most stable peace and tranquility.

3. Purple Jade

Purple jade is also known as "violet" and is called "spring" in the industry. Purple jade usually comes in pink purple, blue purple and eggplant purple. Pink purple is sweet and lovely, and is very popular among young people; eggplant purple is rich and generous, and has the domineering aura of purple air coming from the east; if the blue flavor in purple is too strong and the purple is dark, its value will be affected. There is an old saying in the industry, “Nine out of ten purple jades are beans,” which means that the crystal grains of purple jade are relatively coarse, and the granularity can be felt with the naked eye, like beans. Purple jadeite with fine crystals is usually lighter in color; if the purple is rich and fine in texture, it is very rare and expensive!

4. Green Jade

Green jade is not only a very popular type of jade among investors, but it is also the most valuable type of jade. But from the perspective of the total amount of jade, green jade accounts for a relatively small proportion of the existing total amount of jade, and green, rich and icy jade is even rarer. There is a saying in the industry: "There is water everywhere where there is a dragon", which means that there may be several green lines in a large piece of jade. The structure of the whole piece of jade is relatively rough, and the water is short, but the texture of these green parts is very fine, the quality is icy and clear, and the water is long. Experts figuratively call the green color a "dragon" and the icy texture "water". This is the so-called "dragon and water everywhere", which depicts the mineralization phenomenon very vividly and is full of Chinese style. It also illustrates the rarity of green jadeite from another perspective. The old jadeite handed down from generation to generation is mainly green. In the process of wearing and using jadeite, green has always been the most important and precious color!

5. Ink Jade

Black jade is called "black jade" in the industry, and its color ranges from gray-black to dark black like lacquer. Professionally speaking, there are two types of black jadeite: one is due to excessive chromium in the jadeite mineral, until the composition becomes omphacite, forming omphacite black jadeite; the other is due to a large amount of silky black minerals in the jadeite mine, and this color is secondary. In fact, black jadeite appears black under reflected light, but if you look at the transmitted light against a light source, it is a very deep green. Usually, the texture of black jade is relatively fine, the structure is dense, and after polishing, the luster is very strong, which can reach a nearly metallic luster. The details are portrayed very accurately during the carving process, and the sculptures are usually carved into shapes such as Guanyin, Maitreya Buddha, and dragon, which are accepted by everyone. Hong Kong police particularly like black jadeite because they believe that black jadeite can ward off evil spirits and suppress evil spirits.

6. Red Jade

The red color of jade symbolizes love and passion. Most of them tend to be yellow-red or brown-red, with fewer being bright red and blood-red. It often serves as the finishing touch in jewelry. If it can be used together with green, the effect will be greatly changed and its value will be extremely precious. No matter what kind of red it is, it is still a strong color that can arouse excitement and impulse in people and make them feel the presence of power. People who wear red jade are healthy, energetic, enthusiastic and hopeful. If matched with blue, the fiery feeling will be particularly prominent.

7. Yellow Jade

The yellow color of jade symbolizes brilliance and is often honey yellow or brown. Yellow represents power and wealth, and is a color of pride. People who wear yellow jade are filled with brightness and happiness, and show wisdom and gentleness. If contrasted with purple or black, the intensity of the light will show a sense of expansion and hope. It should not be matched with white or pink, as it will lack vitality and appear dull and weak.

8. Blue Jade

The blue color of jadeite is relatively pure and is rare, and it tends to appear bluish or blue-green. The blue color of jade symbolizes success and smoothness, unforgettableness and eternity. The main expressions are quietness and solemnity. It is suitable for almost all adults to wear, especially for middle-aged and elderly people, making people feel stable and cautious. Blue can complement clothing and skin tone and play a balancing role. The best combination is with yellow, white, gray and brown clothing, which gives people a sense of symbolism and courage and calmness, kindness and honesty.

9. Orange Jade

The orange color of jade is actually a mixture of red and yellow. It is the warmest color after red. It gives people a feeling of cheerfulness and liveliness, and symbolizes harvest and abundance, magnificence and happiness. Generally, steady and reserved wearers like to wear orange jadeite. Paired with white clothing and fair skin, it looks smooth and bright. Especially when paired with blue, it will produce an exceptionally happy and rich visual effect. Avoid pairing it with black, as it will make the lively orange look dull.

A piece of jade that contains multiple colors is not only precious but also symbolizes auspiciousness. For example, purple and green together is called "Spring Color"; red and green together is called "Double Happiness" or "Fu Lu Shuang Quan"; red, green and purple are "Fu Lu Shou"; red, yellow, green and purple are "Four Happinesses"; and if white is added, it is the precious "Five Blessings"!
