Do we have to tolerate jade with cracks?

Let's first understand the processing process of jade. When breaking down a piece of jade raw stone or sheet, where to start cutting? The first choice is to cut along the crack. When it comes to the later processing, which is carving, the emphasis is on removing dirt and knots.

Dirty refers to black spots, yellow spots, rust spots, cotton balls and dead cotton. Straight refers to cracks. Therefore, in jade processing, the cracks must be removed. Now the question is, since the cracks must be removed, why are there still many cracks in the finished products? Mainly because of these two points.

First, the raw materials break into pieces too many to be decomposed, and the cost of making beads cannot even be recovered. The only way to avoid this is to make decorative pieces through carving. The ones with more cracks can be made into ornaments or hand-held items, while the ones with fewer cracks can be made into landscapes, dragon plaques, etc.

In the second case, after the theme of the raw materials is designed, hidden cracks are discovered after the rough product has been damaged. This is very troublesome because each theme has a standard shape and size. If you want to change the gourd into a bean, the final result will be a mess. Of course, the most troublesome thing is the bracelet. You cannot see the hidden cracks on the large plate at first. When you find cracks after the rough product is pressed out, it is already too late.

Moreover, you cannot see how deep some cracks are. If you grind off a little, there will be more. The bracelet is a regular circle, and you cannot grind only the cracked part. If you want to grind, you have to thin the whole circle. If you keep grinding like this, a good bracelet may eventually become a small stick. Therefore, many people do not grind if it is flat and crisp. If there is a crack, there is a crack. They will match it with the perfect one and sell it as a whole. Therefore, jade materials are not afraid of big cracks but are afraid of shattering. They are not afraid of visible cracks but are afraid of hidden cracks.

Some hidden cracks cannot be seen even in the rough state, but small cracks will appear after polishing. Now let's go back to the beginning and analyze again. This statement is actually wrong. There are many perfect jades, but I do not have to tolerate cracks. Tolerating cracks may be in such situations: first, 99% of the buyers' playthings or ornaments have cracks. Who would make them without cracks? Second, the cracks are very small and in hidden places. You can consider buying them at a discount. Anyway, only you know about them and others cannot see them. However, if the merchant sells jade with cracks to you at a perfect price and asks you to tolerate them, you can't fall into this trap.
