What I am sharing this time is a piece of slice cut from a Damakan jadeite raw stone. The characteristic of the material is the green band running from top to bottom. In order to highlight this green band, the jade carving master designed an image of Bodhidharma holding a staff.

Although the water quality of this yellow and green jadeite is not very high and the crystal structure is relatively coarse, it is a yellow and green double-colored material after all. If the colors are used well, it will definitely be a unique and distinctive piece.

The jade carving master is composing the picture based on the long green band on the jadeite. The twisted color ribbons, through spatial imagination, are very similar to an old man's walking stick, and the yellow jade is also very suitable for carving the image of Bodhidharma. Combining the two concepts to compose the picture, a Bodhidharma pendant composition is completed.

Using high relief carving techniques to carve, on the one hand, can make the image of Bodhidharma more three-dimensional, on the other hand, can highlight the green color band, making the green more charming; at the same time, it is also convenient to adjust the water of the pendant, increase light penetration and refraction, and make the pendant video more moist and thorough!

Bodhidharma is usually portrayed as an elder with a kind face and deep eyes, as if he has entered a state of enlightenment. In Buddhist culture, Bodhidharma’s six senses are pure, his mind is as clear as a mirror, and he restrains his greed and desires.
