This kind of bracelet actually has a crown on it. This is the first time I’ve seen it!

Jade bracelets have been one of the most basic wrist ornaments since ancient times, with a very long history. There were the oblate jade bracelets of the Spring and Autumn Period, and the gold-inlaid jade bracelets of the Tang Dynasty. By the Song Dynasty, the jade bracelets had developed into a round shape, flat inside and round outside, plain and without any patterns. Jade bracelets of the Ming and Qing Dynasties were often decorated with patterns such as linked beads and bamboo joints, and there were almost all kinds of styles available.

The names we often hear such as "Fu Bracelet", "Ping An Bracelet" and "Gui Fei Bracelet" are all names of jadeite. Today we will talk about the "Crown Bracelet" in the naming of jade bracelets.

What is a crown bracelet?

Based on the basic jade bracelet, a carved section protrudes from the outside of the stem (the solid part of the bracelet that forms the frame) to form a crown shape, and the overall shape is like a saddle ring. "冠" also means the first place, outstanding glory, and standing out from the crowd. “冠” (crown) is a homophone of “冠” (crown), and is located above the frame circle, implying a prosperous career and a successful official career.

Crown bracelets are often on the edge of the bracelet frame. If they have good colors and patterns, they will be selected and left on the frame as a whole, thus enhancing the value of both. Usually there is one crown, but there can be multiple crowns.

How to choose a crown bracelet?

1. Look at the water quality

It is generally believed that the "type" of jade refers to its texture, and "water" refers to its transparency. The reason why these two items are mentioned together is that jade with good transparency will not have bad texture, and there is a close relationship between them.

The bracelet has a rough texture and you can feel a distinct "graininess". The bracelet has a fine texture and the crystal particles are so small that they are not noticeable to the naked eye. The higher the transparency and the finer the texture of the jade bracelet, the higher its value.

2. Look at the color

Jade has a wide variety of colors, which is a relatively large system, among which green has the highest value.

In fact, the color of jade is divided into grades, and there are many terms in the industry to describe the color of jade. For example, imperial green, yellow sun green, chicken oil yellow, red toon, eggplant purple and so on. In fact, as ordinary consumers, we don’t need to worry about these terms. When we look at green, we mainly look at the following points:

(1) The purer the color, the higher the value. Color cast will seriously affect its value. If green is tinged with yellow, blue or gray, it will have a great impact on its value.

(2) The brighter the color, the higher the value.

(3) Under conditions of equal hue and brightness, the higher the color concentration, the higher the value.

(4) The more uniform the color, the higher the value.

(5) The more harmonious the color tone and distribution are, the higher the value.

3. Look at the cracks

As the saying goes, "There is no jade without flaws." Cracks are inevitable in natural jade. Therefore, when choosing jade bracelets, inconspicuous closed cracks are actually tolerable.

However, if the cracks are too obvious or have already developed to the surface of the bracelet, do not buy it. Severe cracks will not only affect the value of the jade bracelet, but also the durability of the bracelet.

4. Look at impurities

When making jade bracelets, the materials are selected very carefully and the jade bracelets are made from the main materials. Therefore, the requirements for impurities do not need to be overly strict, and should be viewed from a scientific perspective. There is no best, but it is natural to have something that exists and it should be correctly accepted within a reasonable range of value.

When Chinese people wear jade, they should pay attention to "virtue first and symbol second". Regardless of its value, the morality and culture carried by the bracelet are the most important.

5. Look at the carving

Crown bracelets are different from ordinary bracelets. Because of the crown on the crown bracelet, the carving becomes particularly important. It can be said that the quality of the carving directly determines the grade of the crown bracelet. Most jade carvers will choose the darkest part of the entire bracelet to carve it with exquisite color.

After saying so much, it may be difficult for you to understand, so here are a few crown bracelets for you to appreciate carefully!
