The saying “You can’t see the color under the light” means that all kinds of lights have colors. If you look at jadeite under the light, it is like “the moon in the water or the flower in the mirror”, and it is difficult to see the true color. Therefore, it is common sense to identify jadeite under natural light.

The saying goes "you can't tell the quality by looking at it through transmitted light". When you use transmitted light to look at jade, you cannot see the texture structure of the surface and interior of jade clearly, so jade is not looked at with transmitted light but with reflected light.

The saying “Don’t look at the water in a black base” means that jadeite with a black base will appear deep and transparent, giving the illusion of good water content. So don’t look at the water in a black base, but looking at the cotton inside is a good idea.

The saying “you can’t see the cotton on a white background” means that the color can be seen most realistically on a white background, but you can’t see the white cotton inside clearly, so you can see the color on a white background and the cotton on a black background.

Sometimes when you see some jadeite, they look similar in appearance, but the price tags are very different. It turns out that when you observe their internal structure carefully under a magnifying glass, there are still big differences, so you get what you pay for.

However, the consumption concept of jade is different from the past. In the past, people required jade with both good quality and color, but now they require jade with either good quality or color. In other words, jade with the best good quality and color or beautiful color can be included in the ranks of high-end jade.

3. “See more, buy less”

This mantra is especially suitable for novices who have just come into contact with jade. By looking at it more, they will definitely master the method of identifying jade. Buying less is a reminder that it is not difficult to identify jade, but it is difficult to grasp the market price of jade.

Some sellers sell inferior products as high-quality ones. Although you can tell whether the jade is A, B or C grade, the actual transaction price is not clear. Therefore, you need to ask for market information from trustworthy collectors and purchase jade from regular channels.

4 “It is better to buy a line than a large piece”

This saying comes from the "skin green" in jadeite raw stone, which refers to the green color of jadeite raw stone that grows on the surface with a horizontal characteristic. It is the most risky green color. Ordinary buyers will not come into contact with this unless they gamble on stones.
