Have you heard of the legend of jade?

Jade, with its crystal clear, translucent texture like spring water, and its rich, bright and natural colors, is hard to put down. Many skilled craftsmen use the natural color of jade to carve out bright, stunning and auspicious jade ornaments and pendants.

The so-called stories or legends about jade saving people are now endless, and the stories about these are also miraculous. After tea and wine, let’s talk about the legend of jade. Have you heard of it?

(1) In ancient times, there lived a soldier who was brave and skilled in fighting, and had a simple character. Once, he saw an old beggar with ragged clothes and a thin face, and he felt pity for him. He gave some silver to the old man, hoping that he could go home to spend his old age in peace. After thanking him, the old man gave the soldier a jade pendant and said, "Kind man, it will bring you good luck." Not long after, the soldier encountered an unprecedented fierce battle. He and the generals charged into the battle, and the generals around him were shot by arrows like raindrops and fell off their horses one after another, but he was the only one who killed wildly. When he took off his armor, he found that the jade pendant on his chest was damaged and cracked, but his body was intact. It turned out that several fatal arrows shot by the enemy were blocked by Wang Pei. The jade pendant saved his life. From then on, he took extra care of the pendant and went through hundreds of battles wearing it, winning every time. Eventually he was promoted to general. Several years later, he discovered that all the cracks on the jade pendant had healed back to its original state. He believed that it was a divine object, so he wore it throughout his life until his death and buried it on his chest.

(ii) There is another folk story about a kind-hearted Mongolian boy who saved a deer while grazing. In order to thank the monkey for saving its life, the deer spat out a piece of jade from its body and gave it to him. After returning home, he accidentally dropped it into the sheepfold. The next day, he found that the number of sheep had doubled. Then he put the jade into the granary, and the amount of grain doubled... When the greedy prince knew about this, he tried every means to snatch the jade, but the jade turned into real stone in his hands... After many twists and turns, the jade was returned to Zhao, and the jade regained its spirituality. The Mongolian boy took it to travel among the grasslands, allowing many poor herdsmen to live a better life.

(3) Legend has it that there was a prince in the Dragon Palace. He fell in love with a girl in the world. Because of his special identity, he could not be in the sun, nor could he make girls fall in love with him, let alone get girls to come to the Dragon Palace. But he also hopes to bring good luck and happiness to the girl and to protect her anytime and anywhere. Cherish her. Prince Longgong decided to turn into a piece of jewelry that girls like. So the prince turned into a jasper jade bracelet and appeared on the girl's wrist, crystal clear. From then on, the bracelet and the girl were never separated again, and the girl lived a happy life.

(iv) According to folklore, the sun god had a beloved daughter. Give my daughter the best no matter what. When it was time for his daughter to get married, the sun god was reluctant to let her go, so in addition to a large amount of gold and silver treasures, he also gave his daughter three eggs. The daughter took the three eggs and married to a local. From then on, a lot of jade, gems, fine gold and jewelry were discovered in this area. This place is today's Menggong. During the Yuan Dynasty, Menggong was called Mengguang Road in Beijing and belonged to the map of Yunnan. In the 32nd year of Wanli (1604), the land was incorporated into Myanmar. It was again annexed by the Qing Dynasty in the early years, and after Emperor Qianlong's reign it belonged to Myanmar again. Relevant records show that from the Yuan Dynasty, Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, Menggong was part of my country's map and was administratively governed by Tengyue. Mong Kung now belongs to Kachin State, Myanmar, and is known as the "Hometown of Jade".

(5) In the magnificent Forbidden City, there once lived 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties with different personalities and hobbies. Among these emperors, there were two who had exactly the same hobby: they both loved playing with jade. It is said that among the more than 30,000 jade artifacts preserved in the Forbidden City today, more than 20,000 have been played with and collected by these two people. One of them is Emperor Qianlong, who reigned for 61 years, and the other is Empress Dowager Cixi, who ruled the country from behind the curtain for 46 years.

Jadeite originates from Myanmar and was introduced into my country in the Qing Dynasty. Its unique and elegant temperament is consistent with the spiritual connotation of my country's traditional jade culture and is very suitable for the peaceful and moderate characteristics of the Chinese nation. Domestic carving masters have endowed it with my country's unique cultural connotations through careful carving, inheriting people's good wishes. At the same time, a piece of high-end and cutting-edge jadeite jewelry also deeply contains a kind of precipitated national emotion and aesthetic orientation. In addition, jade spirituality may really exist, but we still need to make continuous efforts in our lives to achieve the desired goals and fulfill our initial wishes.
