How can a novice distinguish between ABC jadeite? Two points are enough

How can a novice use the simplest method to identify the ABC grades of jadeite? First of all, we must say that grade A jadeite does not necessarily mean it is very expensive. It just means that it has not been artificially processed and is harmless to the human body if worn. So let's put quality aside for now and think about how to identify the ABC quality of jadeite. If it is a quality inspection station, it will be very, very simple because they have large-scale jewelry identification equipment and can tell what ingredients are in it by just using an infrared scanner.

If a piece of jade contains glue, it is definitely a B-grade or C-grade jade. So, as a newbie, how can I use the simplest way to identify whether a piece of jade is natural with my naked eyes?

The first and simplest method is to look at the certificate. Of course, many friends have said that there are many fake certificates nowadays. Since he wants to sell fakes, he must sell the whole set, fake certificates, and fake websites. I can also find it on the Internet, but in the end the product we bought is still a B-grade or C-grade jadeite, so you have to rely on yourself for everything. If we search on the Internet, we will find some so-called tips, but they may not work. For example, if we hang two bracelets with a string and then collide them, if there is a sound like a wind chime, then it is a natural A-grade jade. If the sound is very dull, then it is a B-grade or C-grade jade. But which merchant will allow us to collide his bracelets when selling jade to us?

There is another method that I can use to measure the specific gravity if I don’t have a scale. However, if the jade is particularly large, it will be very difficult for us to measure it. Therefore, the simplest identification method is to use our eyes. The basis of the identification method is the production method of B goods and C goods mentioned earlier. Today I will tell you two.

The first method is to look. In fact, for experts, most of the B-grade and C-grade jadeite are fake at first glance when they put them in front of their eyes. Sometimes they will use some small tools. What are these tools? They are magnifying glasses, special magnifying glasses for jewelry. They cost only a few dozen yuan. When observing with the naked eye, we look from both the surface and the inside.

For a piece of natural black, we can see orange peel effect or fly wings on its surface, which is mainly caused by the uneven hardness of the mineral aggregate. As for the inside of an A-grade jadeite, we can use a flashlight or the flashlight of our mobile phone to see that its interior is very tight in texture, and there are some naturally grown lines or impurities.

However, what are the characteristics of B-grade jadeite? First of all, we can see acid reticulation from the appearance. What does acid reticulation look like? Just like a spider web, each line will crisscross, and there will often be a deep pit where the lines intersect. We can even see a waxy luster in places where the glue is heavily filled. The interior of the B-grade jade is very loose and looks very unnatural.

We have mentioned before that the main purpose of C-grade jade is to change its color, so the pickling process is the same as that of B-grade jade, which will result in its appearance having the same acid reticulation as B-grade jade. We can see it more clearly inside. There is color distributed along the cracks. This color is also very unnatural and is completely different from the green color of the A-grade jade.

The second method is actually simpler. We need to use a small tool, which is a flashlight with ultraviolet function. A flashlight with 365-nanometer ultraviolet irradiation function is actually worth only about a hundred yuan. When we use ultraviolet light to irradiate jade, A-grade jade does not glow, but B-grade and C-grade jade have some gum in them, which will fluoresce.

One more thing to note here is that if polishing powder is left on the surface of the jade, it is possible that the polishing powder will fluoresce, so we have to distinguish it carefully. When we use ultraviolet light, this jade is only on the surface, especially like the Guanyin Buddha sculpture, there will be gathering of polishing powder in some grooves. There is no problem when this place lights up, but if the whole body, especially the inside, lights up, it means that it must have been filled with glue, and it must be B or C goods.
