It turns out that jade has these meanings, the most detailed introduction!

Among many jewelry, jade has the most themes, with various patterns and different meanings. They may not all be love words, but each theme expresses different meanings:

1. Guanyin

The Guanyin in jade is usually given to men. Guanyin Bodhisattva is originally a male, representing masculinity, so when a girl gives Guanyin to a boy, it is usually to appreciate the other person's righteousness, or to make the other person more masculine!

2. Buddha

Most of the Buddha statues in jade are for ladies to wear. Most of the designs are of laughing Maitreya Buddha with a big belly showing. As the saying goes, a prime minister’s belly is big enough to fit a boat, which means smiling often and having a broad mind. So when boys give Buddha statues to girls, they usually hope that the other party will let go of their worries, stay happy, and have a broad mind!

3. Ruyi

Ruyi is a product of Buddhism. It was introduced to China along with Buddhism and gradually became a recognized auspicious symbol for the Chinese people. During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, objects with Ruyi themes became increasingly common. From the literal definition, Ruyi means getting what you want.

There is a Ganoderma lucidum carved on the head of the jade Ruyi, which means "looking back". According to legend, when ancient soldiers were away from home on military campaigns, their families would let them wear a jade ruyi as a token of their wishes before they set off in order to pray for their safety and safe return home.

In ancient times, when people got married, those who could afford it would place a jade ruyi ornament at the head of the bed. People believed that placing a jade ruyi at a wedding could bring harmony and nobility to the family.

The jade ruyi, which is composed of auspicious cloud patterns and Ganoderma lucidum, gives people a feeling of harmony, peace and integration. Because of this, the jade Ruyi also implies happiness, good fortune, and harmony.

Therefore, when a man and a woman give each other Buddha statues, they usually hope that the other party will get what they want!

4. Leaves

Jade branches and leaves are often used to describe the beauty of flowers, plants and trees. In ancient times, the daughters of kings, generals, and high-ranking officials were called golden branches and jade leaves to express their noble status and praise their gentle quality like jade. In jade, the most common gold-inlaid jade leaves are also called golden branches and jade leaves.

Also, because the word “leaves” is homophonic to “career”, it implies a prosperous career. Large leaves imply “great success in career (leaves)” and a prosperous career. In addition, the leaves are the root of life. Adults can wear them to pray for a successful career and prosperity; children can wear them to pray for academic progress and healthy growth.

5. Gourd

① In ancient times, people believed that Fuxi and Nuwa, the ancestors of mankind, were incarnations of gourds. People revered gourds and knelt down to worship and offer sacrifices to them.

② Jigong often traveled around with his gourd on his back, and his gourd could help him solve all kinds of difficulties. Li Tieguai in one of the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea had a gourd that was even more peculiar. It could hold water to quench thirst, wine to relieve boredom, and even produce holy water to save lives and cure diseases.

③In ancient times, newly married couples would drink from the gourd together, which meant supporting each other, being together forever, and growing old together.

④The gourd is a sacred object in Taoism and Buddhism. Legend has it that it can absorb and store the essence of all things in nature and is particularly spiritual. Therefore, hanging a gourd outside a Taoist pagoda or Buddhist temple can not only ward off evil spirits but also ensure safety.

⑤ The old man Nan Ji, the god of longevity with white hair and a youthful face, often has a gourd tied on top of the cane he is leaning on. Therefore, the gourd also symbolizes longevity, health, and good fortune.

⑥ Gourds bring many seeds. In ancient times, it was believed that giving gourds as a gift to couples who were eager to have children or had been unable to conceive for a long time could bring them good luck, and help them have many children and give birth to a son soon.

There are many other themes in jade, such as nostalgic, Pixiu, landscape pendants, etc., all of which imply different meanings.
