Now that people's lives are better, many people like to buy some accessories to dress themselves up better. Let's talk about the jade jewelry that many people have bought. For jade that is worn close to the body, it is generally best to first confirm whether it is natural Burmese jade. Because if it is not natural Burmese jade, but B-grade or C-grade jade, then these jades generally contain more or less substances that are harmful to the body, and even some substances that may cause cancer. Therefore, it is best to get the jade you wear identified first! Moreover, it is best to rinse and soak jadeite repeatedly in clean water before wearing it, or even brush it with a small soft-bristled brush. Even for A-grade jadeite (it's just a matter of percentage, whether it's 100% or not depends on the specific situation!), some jade jewelry will be optimized during the processing using colored polishing powder, boiled wax, coating, etc. The residues from these optimization methods may not be directly harmful to the body, but out of caution and cleanliness considerations, necessary cleaning should still be taken care of. Generally, you should pay attention to the daily maintenance of the jadeite you wear. Many people believe that jade will become more transparent or more moist the more it is worn. This is actually a misunderstanding now. The reason why there was a saying that jade becomes more transparent the more it is worn is perhaps because the polishing and grinding technology in the past was not as good as it is now for some jade. Those high-quality jades may become brighter as people wear and play with them, resulting in the surface that was not polished thoroughly before becoming brighter due to playing with them. This is why there is such a saying. In fact, today's jadeite will hardly become more transparent the more it is worn. At most, as sweat, oil stains, etc. seep into the gaps in the jadeite, the gloss and texture of some jadeite may change. Moreover, jadeite is different from soft jade such as Hetian jade (of course, we cannot rule out misunderstanding, where the playability of soft jade is applied to hard jade such as jadeite). It is also difficult to form a patina on the surface as it is worn, and the luster becomes more restrained and the moistness becomes better as the time of playing and wearing increases. Jadeite's unique glass luster and hard crystal structure make it difficult to form a patina. On the contrary, it is easily eroded by sweat, oil stains, etc. over the years, resulting in reticular corrosion marks similar to B-grade jade. The luster also becomes dull, and even tends to be greasy. I have seen many old jade pendants end up like this, which was actually caused by inadequate daily maintenance. The daily maintenance of jade is actually very simple, just as follows: 1. Jadeite should be cleaned regularly. You can clean it while taking a shower. Finally, rinse it with clean water and neutral detergent. Of course, I personally think that cleaning with clean water is the best. 2. Jadeite should not be exposed to corrosive chemicals, including chemical detergents with obvious acidity and alkalinity; 3. Jade should not be exposed to high temperature environment, especially the situation of alternating high and low temperatures in some parts, as it is easy to cause thermal expansion and contraction, resulting in cracks. Some people may say that since it cannot be exposed to high temperature environment, why not just freeze it? It is not recommended to do so, because it is difficult to guarantee whether there are hidden cracks in the jade you want to freeze. If it is frozen, the water may melt and expand the hidden cracks, which is not worth the loss! 4. Do not expose jade to the sun as this will reduce the moisture content of jade. If it is exposed to a dry environment for a long time, such as the long dry period of winter in the north, you can soak it in clean water regularly to prevent dehydration; also, do not wear it in places with a lot of oil smoke. When the jade is not worn, you can apply some jade care liquid and then put it in the box where the jade is placed. For example, for jadeite pendants such as bracelets and pendants, you should always check the wear and aging of the hanging ropes. If any wear or aging is found, replace it immediately with a new one to avoid the jade falling, breaking or losing it without knowing it. If it is a pendant, remember to check the firmness of the rope.
