There are many jargons in the jade industry, such as "water head", "rigidity", "beautiful color", "glue", "straight pile", "thick pile", "strange pile", and "opposite pile". These are also jargons that friends often hear in the jade market. So what do they mean? Water head For jadeite, water head refers to the degree of light transparency of jade under natural light or treasure appraisal light. Usually, the water head of jadeite raw stone (or the performance of good or bad water head) is judged by the length of the aperture radius through the light of a treasure appraisal flashlight. rigidity Rigidity refers to the feeling given by the polished surface of jade material, which is relatively cold, the strength of the visual sense of rigidity, or the crisp sound when knocked. It can be described as rigid or strong. It usually refers to jadeite of relatively old and better quality. Color To put it simply, color matching means that for a specific piece of jade, the material may have two or even more colors. Through clever carving techniques, the different colors are more cleverly reflected in the jade work. In reality, it is more commonly used on Damukan materials. Glue The gelling refers to the polished surface of jadeite. Due to its good quality, it gives people a visual feeling similar to newly solidified transparent sol. Usually this type of problem appears in jadeite of better quality. In reality, the jadeite that actually has glue peeling is usually at least ice grade. Thick pile The key point of thick pile lies in the word "thick". Thick simply means the distance between the upper and lower parallel surfaces of a flat object (usually its length value has a standard set by the industry. If it meets the standard, it is thick, and if it does not meet the standard, it is thin!). The thick pile in jade often refers to jewelry made of thick jadeite. So how thick does it have to be to be called a thick pile? There is no specific standard, but for example, the thickness of jadeite carvings on jade plaques is usually more than 1 cm (of course, bracelets also have specific thickness standards). This requires a comprehensive consideration of the length and width of the jadeite before evaluation, as well as the factor of the carving. If the thickness of a plaque carving reaches more than 1 cm, but its inner design is a hollow carving design, although the outer contour appears to be 1 cm, strictly speaking it is not considered a thick plaque carving. This type of carving is usually called a hollow large plaque carving. Because for thick pile brand carvings, not only is the maximum thickness of the jadeite required to be more than 1cm, but the minimum thickness must also be at least around 1cm. It is not only thick and large, but more importantly, it has to be solid. Therefore, the requirements for jadeite materials such as thick piles are relatively strict. Not only should it be as free of cracks as possible, but it should also have few impurities, good texture, and sufficient weight! To a certain extent, this is why the price of thick jadeite plaques on the market is higher than other types. Under the same conditions, the larger the jadeite, the more valuable it is! Strange pile The focus of "guaizhuan" is also on the first word "weird", but the weird here does not mean that the jade is weird, but that the guaizhuan jade is strange and unusual. In layman's terms, it means that the color, shape, carving and other aspects of the jade are different from other jades, especially the jade carved with the use of color matching. Therefore, the strange piles in jade all have their own unique features. For example, a jade bracelet with a white base has almost one-third red or yellow color. We sometimes also call such bracelets "weird bracelets." Another example is a piece of multi-colored jade. The sculptor uses the distribution of colors to carve out lifelike mountains, rivers, trees, birds, animals, insects, fish, etc. Pile As the name suggests, it means that when you encounter a jadeite and you are attracted to it, or you like it, just like love at first sight, it is called "Dui Pian". The price is usually not involved here, but just refers to a person's "feeling of love" or "favorability" towards something. There is a saying about jade that it is fate (jade fate). Some of you have had the experience of falling in love with a piece of jade and can't forget it. That means you are destined to be with that piece of jade. In fact, it is more than just a match in eyes, or it can be said to be a kind of resonance in the soul. If you are destined to be with the piece of jade you like, then what you will eventually get is inner peace and joy. This can be said to be a match. That’s all I’ll say for today. I think you all should have a better understanding of the jargon in the jade industry!
