Ice

Glutinous

Glutinous jade is like cooked glutinous rice. The main characteristic is that its transparency is slightly lower than that of ice type, giving people the feeling of turbid glutinous rice soup, which belongs to the translucent category. The glutinous variety can be further divided into glutinous ice variety and glutinous rice variety. The glutinous ice type refers to a type that is slightly more turbid than the ice type, just like ice with slightly more impurities. Some people also classify it as ice type.

Bean seeds

Bean-type is a very vivid name. We know that jade is a polycrystalline. If the crystals that make up jade are coarser, such as larger than one millimeter, they will be easily seen by the naked eye. Most of the coarse jade crystals are short columnar. When the boundaries of these short columnar crystals are very clear, they look like green beans, so they are called bean-type. “Ten green beans and nine beans” shows the wide range of bean varieties. Bean varieties can be further divided into: sugar beans, ice beans, fine beans, and coarse beans, so high-end bean varieties are also very valuable.

Hibiscus species

Hibiscus jade is like a blooming hibiscus flower, with a light green color that is pure and soft, uniform overall color, delicate and warm texture, and relatively high transparency. It is a mid-to-high-end jade.

Gold thread

The golden thread type refers to the jadeite whose color is distributed in thread-like shapes and arranged in parallel. We can clearly see that the green appears intermittently along a certain direction. Of course, the green stripes can be thick or thin. The grade of golden-thread jadeite depends on the color of its green stripes, the proportion of the green stripes, and the coarseness of the texture. If the color stripes are thick, occupy a large proportion of the area, and the color is relatively bright, then the value is of course high. On the contrary, if the color stripes are sparse and light, they are much cheaper. So there are also high, medium and low grades.

Anthocyanin

The Huaqing variety refers to a type of jadeite in which the green color is distributed in vein-like but very irregular patterns. The base color may be light green or other colors, and the texture may be coarse or fine. For example, the bean-bottom Huaqing has a coarser grain structure, called a bean-bottom. Its irregular color is sometimes distributed more densely, or it may be more sparse, and may be deep or shallow. This type of jadeite is therefore called the Huaqing variety. The characteristic of Huaqing jadeite is the irregular distribution of green.

Oil green

Oily green jade is a dark green type of jade. Its green is mixed with gray and blue, and the surface has a slightly oily luster, so it is called oily green. Although the color is dark, the fineness and transparency of the Oil Green variety are usually relatively high. The transparency of some Oil Green varieties is even close to that of glass and ice varieties. Because of the color problem, although the texture is good, the price of Youqing jade is not high in the market and belongs to the category of mid-to-low-end jade.

Dry green

The green of the dry green variety is generally very bright, but unevenly distributed, and is often covered with many black spots; the base is very rough and dry, with almost no transparency, and belongs to the medium and low-grade jadeite.

Tielongsheng

Tielongsheng is a mid-range jadeite with bright green color, but with varying shades, poor transparency, loose structure, and columnar crystals arranged in a certain direction. It can often be seen in the market. This type of jade is almost entirely green, so "Tie Long Sheng" is equivalent in Chinese thought to jade that is all green but has very poor water content.
