Jade looks like a human, with blood vessels, textures, and moles!

In jadeite mineralization, secondary colors will invade the crystal lattice to form beautiful colors. If it enters a part with a larger distance between the crystal lattices, a darker vein-like shape will be formed, which is the color root. Most of the color roots are brown-yellow, dark green or even close to black. In some finished products, it may seem to affect the aesthetics, but it is actually just the place where colored elements are concentrated. It is said that jade will become greener the longer you wear it. This is because the chromium ions in the color roots will gradually penetrate into the gaps in the crystal lattice. It does not mean that white jade can turn green when worn. However, this process is much longer than the disappearance of cotton.

The texture of jadeite - cotton

Jade is a polycrystalline aggregate with a fibrous interwoven structure. The jadeite minerals it contains will reflect white light under the light, which we call jadeite nature, also commonly known as fly wings. When these tiny reflective surfaces gather together, they appear as white cotton-like dots or lines to the naked eye, which we call cotton. In other words, cotton is the boundary line of jade crystal particles. This is a unique characteristic of jadeite.

It can be said that no matter how good the jade is, there will be cotton in it, but the degree of visibility to the naked eye varies. The more transparent it is, the more we can see the cotton. If it is completely opaque, we cannot see the cotton with our naked eyes. Therefore, cotton does not affect the value of jade. When cotton is worn, as body oil and sweat gradually penetrate into these boundaries and change its refraction direction, it becomes less obvious to the naked eye. The disappearance of cotton is a very long process, and we need to face this problem squarely.

Scars of Jadeite - Stone Patterns

Jade has undergone countless geological movements during its formation process. Countless squeezing, collisions, and pulling have caused the crystallization of jade itself to be destroyed and cracks to form. Some cracks gradually heal over time and regain their original firmness, but they leave scars. These are healed cracks, which we commonly call stone patterns.

Stone patterns are also an extremely common phenomenon in jadeite, and people in the industry also say that nine out of ten jades have patterns. In natural raw materials, almost every complete piece of raw material has stone patterns. Scars do affect the appearance, but they are not the fatal flaw of jade, and the stone patterns do not actually affect the firmness of jade. Many people mistakenly believe that the stone patterns are easy to break. In fact, during the polishing process of jade carving, it has already experienced violent vibrations caused by the drill bit rotating at thousands of revolutions per second. If it is really vulnerable, it will have broken during the carving process.

Moles on Jadeite - Impurities

If secondary minerals invade the healed cracks, you will see black dot-like substances. Most of these substances are compounds of divalent iron or trivalent iron. In fact, the iron element in the impurities is very beneficial to the human body. Although it may affect the appearance, it actually has a good health care effect.

As the saying goes, "There is no jade without flaws." The asbestos, stone flowers, color roots, sand holes and variegated colors inside and on the surface are naturally formed. Such defects are normal and are naturally generated. Since you like natural treasures, you must accept its imperfect beauty and natural beauty. After all, natural things are almost impossible to be flawless.

If we insist that cotton, fluff, stone patterns, etc. are the shortcomings of jade, then it can be said that jade is not perfect. What kind of jade doesn’t have these things? It's very simple. Those B and C goods on the market that look beautiful don't have these things, but are you willing to wear them?

Some people say that top-grade jade is 100% perfect. In fact, the top-grade jade is not completely flawless, it is just relatively perfect. When looking at a piece of jade, if we are too demanding of perfection and regard the natural properties of jade as flaws, then we will miss out on the good jade that we like, and this is the most regrettable thing!
