How much do you know about floating flowers in jadeite?

What is floating flower jadeite?

As the name suggests, jadeite floating flowers refer to the distribution of colors on jadeite. From the appearance, the floating flowers are scattered in one piece or a cluster. The color composed of color roots and color spots is actually green or blue distributed in the form of silk threads, dots and layers on the base of the jade.

Since the color of the floating flowers is brought into the jade during the formation process of the jade, it blends with the base. The base of jade, which is the basic part of jade minus the color, has green or blue silk-like particles floating on the base, which are called floating flowers. If there is green on the base of the jade, it is a floating green flower, and if there is blue, it is a floating blue flower.

Based on the above, we can know that floating flower jade refers to blue or green distributed in the form of silk threads on the base of jade. More broadly speaking, floating flowers in jadeite refer to obvious cloud-like flowers on the base of jadeite that are different from the base color. Of course, there are many kinds of floating flowers in jade, and the colors are also very rich. Generally, blue-green floating flowers are more common, and there are also floating flowers in green, red and other colors.

What impact does it have on the overall value?

In fact, there are many factors that affect the value of a piece of jade. For example, the factor of floating flowers can be subdivided into the shape, color, pattern, distribution and size of the floating flowers, which will have a certain impact on the overall value of jade.

First of all, the shapes of floating flowers are varied, and their quality must be judged by their appearance. The best ones are those with clear and organized veins, no turbidity or blur, appropriate color, and textured light effects.

Secondly, jade has rich and varied colors, but full-color jade is very rare. The bright colors of jade mostly appear in blocks, clumps, and masses, with large shapes and either thick or thin colors.

Furthermore, the patterns of floating flowers are also diverse. On a piece of jade, color shapes such as dots, ribbons, and strips do not always exist in a single form, but often appear in combination, i.e. dots + ribbons, ribbons + strips, etc.

In addition, the location where the floating flowers appear on the jade may be intentional during the cutting of the raw materials and processing, or it may be unintentional. Whether intentional or unintentional, the color of floating flowers as a color shape will definitely have a positive or negative impact on the overall or local effect of the finished jade product.

Finally, the size of the floating flowers in jade is a qualitative parameter and cannot be quantitatively required, but it does not mean that any size or color shape can be identified as floating flowers. If the color, shape and volume of the floating flowers are too large, it will undoubtedly deviate from the original intention of the floating flowers; on the contrary, if the size of the floating flowers should be within a certain range, the percentage of the size of the floating flowers to the total surface area should be relatively small, so as to be in line with the charm of the floating flowers.

Is floating flower jadeite worth buying?

Since ancient times, jade has been the perfect expression of the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. While highlighting the unique charm and temperament of oriental women, it also interprets a low-key nobility. Floating flower jade jewelry is one of the particularly popular varieties. It has a restrained color and perfect texture, making people love it.

Because some floating flower jadeites have superior texture and beautiful design, with a faint green color floating on the ice-like jade base, they are round and delicate, transparent and flawless, fresh and refined, showing a personality, noble and fashionable temperament, and have both appreciation and collection value. Therefore, floating flower jade is also sought after by many jade lovers.

However, the overall value of floating flower jadeite not only depends on the parameters related to the floating flowers, but also needs to consider the influence of its water quality, color, defects and craftsmanship. If the floating flowers are good, the quality of the jade is better, the color transition is natural and the luster is translucent, there are no obvious defects inside, and the workmanship is excellent, then the value of such floating flower jade will be higher, and it is worth buying; on the contrary, if the quality of the jade is poor, the color blocks are blurred and the luster is dull, there are obvious defects and the workmanship is average, then its value is relatively low and it is not recommended to buy.
