1. Observe the jadeite

The jadeite nature of jade refers to the texture details that can be observed by the naked eye. It is also an experience to identify the authenticity of jadeite, which can be divided into 3 categories:

① Flocs: Cotton-like substances, fog flowers, etc. contained in jade, and they must be evenly distributed and staggered.

② Orange peel effect: When observed under natural reflective light, a network of interlaced patterns similar to orange peel can be seen on the polished surface of the jade. This effect is often seen in the texture of A-grade jade.

③ Fly wings: When observing the polished surface of jadeite under reflective conditions, you can see white reflective spots like fly wings. When you turn the jade, the "fly wings" will appear to sparkle.

But you can't see this on jade that has just been polished or polished to a very fine finish.

2. Observe the color roots

There will be a point or a thin strip of slightly darker green inside of natural jade. Among these colors, the slightly darker green gradually transitions into a relatively lighter green, which is the color root.

Color roots only exist in natural jade. Other fake jades have fake and uniform colors and do not have such color roots.

3. Request a certificate

Whether you look at it yourself or ask an experienced collector to look at it, they all have different opinions. The safest way is to look at the certificate, especially the appraisal certificate issued by an authoritative professional organization with a national name in it, which is very valuable for reference.

However, many certificates are now forged. If you are not sure, you can send them to a professional organization for re-inspection after purchasing them to ensure your safety.
