There is a saying in the jade industry, "Good jade does not need to be carved." Many jade lovers understand that a piece of excellent quality jade should not be excessively carved, because it itself is the best work of art created by nature! It may be due to different standpoints. As a businessman, Dafa also adheres to the concept of "good jade does not need to be carved". However, the reason for "not carving" is to allow the second or third owner of the jade to perform secondary processing according to his or her own preferences. In this way, no one will give up the jade because of the subject matter of the carving. The work that I am sharing with you today is a custom-made carving by a customer using a piece of Wu Shi Pai. To be honest, this work may be the best landscape plaque that Dafa has made in recent years. Whether in terms of materials or carving, it is impeccable and perfect! Let’s take a look together. Let’s first look at the materials. This material is a piece of clear water material from Muna. Jade is a spiritual thing. If we want to make a work with enough experience, we must first "read" jade, that is, understand the characteristics, size and defects of the whole material. Let's look at this piece of jade, which comes from Muna. The material is full of artistic conception. It is as clear as water and as green as water grass. There are bits of snowflake cotton on the material flying all over the sky and falling into this clear stream. It is full of profound meaning and overflowing reverie, like the finishing touch to a painting. The Mu Na material is sweet and melts in the mouth, with smooth and delicate glue, thick, dignified and regular shape, yet it looks like a pool of clear green in the snow. Such material with uniform Mu Na water lines is rare and precious. The next step is carving. As the saying goes, one detail is worth nine works of art. The success of a jade work is inseparable from a successful design. A good design requires not only wild imagination, but more importantly, it requires the ability to combine the various factors of the jade itself, whether it is flaws or advantages and disadvantages, to highlight its strengths and avoid its weaknesses, and to display its natural beauty. High-end raw materials like this rough stone are extremely precious in themselves and have no flaws. Such materials are a test of design skills. Since there is no need to avoid weaknesses, we must consider maximizing the most beautiful aspects of the material while retaining its natural form to the greatest extent! So~This piece of material is divided into two sides, front and back. The front side adopts a carving method different from ordinary brands. Unlike the common carving method of flattening the entire piece, it allows the scenery to blend into the material itself. For materials like this, the design must adhere to the principle of 30% craftsmanship and 70% material beauty. Therefore, the final design theme is "Sitting and Watching the Mountains and Rivers". The diack part only occupies 30% of the area of the material. This not only shows the quality of the material itself, but also adds a bit of poetic beauty to the work. A lot of thought went into the design of the back. The theme chosen was "Zen" in order to embody the Zen realm of "one flower, one world, one leaf, one bodhi". It focused on expressing the mystery and profundity of "like a flower but not a flower, like a leaf but not a leaf". The snowflakes dancing in the sky and the water droplets created according to the waterways and the overall artistic conception create a poetic and Zen world. After the work is designed, the carving process will be relatively easier, but don’t think that carving is simple? A good sculptor needs to make his work "alive", just like the finishing touch of a painting. A slight mistake may ruin the entire work. Finally, the work arrives at its final step of "polishing". Polishing is not easy. There is no fixed method for jade polishing, but it is flexible. The hardness of the raw materials and the carving techniques are different, so the polishing methods and polishing materials used are also different. In order to achieve the ideal effect, one must fully understand the creator's creative intent, the thickness, hardness and softness of the lines carved by the jade carver, and the feeling to be expressed, and select the appropriate polishing method based on the material and craftsmanship of the work to ensure the final effect of the work. At this point, the work is finally completed. Every part of it should have adopted the most advanced craftsmanship in the industry, so the value of this work is certainly not low. The price given by professionals is over one million, but the client is not short of money. This work is also his private collection and he has no intention of selling it. After all, he spent so much time on it, so of course he wants to keep it for himself.
