Is A-grade jadeite necessarily expensive? What is A-grade jadeite?

Many jade lovers who have just come into contact with jade do not fully understand what A-grade jade means. They mistakenly believe that A-grade jade refers to the best quality jade, and that as long as it is A-grade jade, it must be expensive.

However, they completely misunderstood it, and therefore often suffer big setbacks in the jade market.

Are the prices of Grade A jadeite always very high? The answer is no.

Many people love jade, but the high cost discourages them.

Due to insufficient knowledge about jadeite, many people believe that the price of natural A-grade jadeite is generally more expensive, so they spend a high price to buy cheap jadeite.

Many people think that as long as it is A-grade jade, it is worth buying even if the price is a little higher. This idea is wrong.

The price range of A-grade jadeite is quite wide, ranging from small pendants worth tens of yuan to jadeite jewelry worth hundreds of millions. It can satisfy both the general public and collectors, and is therefore suitable for different purchasing classes.

In fact, Grade A jade is not necessarily expensive or of high quality.

Because A-grade jade means that the jade is pure natural and has not been chemically treated in any way, it does not represent the quality of the jade.

In addition to Class A jadeite, there are also Class B, C, and B+C jadeite on the market. Class B jadeite refers to jadeite that has been acid-washed and injected with glue, Class C jadeite refers to jadeite that has been artificially dyed, and Class B+C jadeite refers to jadeite that has been acid-washed and dyed at the same time.

Not all Class A jadeite has collection value, because the quality of jadeite is not measured by whether the jadeite is pure natural, but by the type, water content and color of the jadeite itself.

Among them, the species of jade refers to the texture of jade, which is the most important factor in determining the quality of jade. According to the different species, the species can be divided into glass species, ice species, glutinous species, bean species, etc. The better the species, the more delicate and transparent the texture of the jade, and the higher the quality.

The water of jade refers to the degree of moisture of jade, which determines the transparency of jade. The better the water of jade, the more transparent the jade is, the more vibrant it is, and the higher the quality.

The color of jade refers to the color of jade. The purer, richer, and brighter the color, the higher the quality of the jade.

What does valuable jade look like?

1. Imperial Green Jadeite

Imperial green is the best and most valuable green color of jadeite. The green color of imperial green is pure and rich, with a hint of blue in it, but without any color cast. The color of imperial green is very unique, very green, the kind that looks like it's about to drip out.

2. Glass Jade

Glass jade is as transparent as glass, with very fine quality and dense crystal particles. It is the best jade. A very obvious characteristic of glass type is that it fluoresces to the naked eye, which is what experts call "fluorescence". Glass-type jade has a glassy luster to the naked eye, fine texture, pure and flawless interior, and appears translucent or transparent under the light. It is the best or finest quality jade.

3. Ice Jade

Ice-type jade is extraordinary and has an imperial temperament. Glass-type jade is very watery, with a clean and transparent texture without any impurities. Ice jade does not have bright colors, but is like the queen who is the mother of the country, dignified and elegant, and it combines the aesthetic standards of China for thousands of years - since ancient times, there have been sayings about it that it is "pure as ice and jade", "white as jade", and "jade bones and icy skin".

What does cheap jade look like?

1. Porcelain-bottomed jadeite

The jade base of porcelain-based jadeite is like porcelain, with a grayish white base color, which appears extremely dull, opaque or slightly transparent. The grade is very low, the seeds are coarse and the water is poor.

2. Horse-tooth Jade

Horse-tooth jade has a white or grayish white base and is mostly green, which may be mixed with light green, brown and other colors. It is opaque and looks good at first glance, but it has color but no quality. It is usually made into simple jade jewelry. When purchasing ring fingers, cigarette holders and snuff bottles, you will often hear merchants say that this is horse-tooth jade.

3. 83 Jade

The color of 83 jadeite is based on milky white, grayish white, and light green, and the base color is often embedded with green, dark green, and dark green cloud-shaped, impregnated, and vein-like spots, just like floating flowers. The knocking sound is dull, and sometimes it is easy to mistake it for a B-grade product.

The price difference of the same grade A jadeite can range from a few hundred yuan to several million or even hundreds of millions. If we are unable to identify whether the jade is genuine, we can send it to a professional appraisal agency for inspection. The appraisal certificate issued indicates whether the jade is Class A, as well as its various relevant physical parameters, from which we can learn about the quality of the jade.
