What is B-grade jadeite?

B-grade jadeite refers to jadeite that has been acid-washed and filled with glue. If the mined ore is of poor quality, unscrupulous merchants will soak it in strong acid to remove the black spots and impurities inside the jade. But at the same time, the structural texture of the jade is also destroyed, just like our bones become brittle after being damaged by porous bones, and break easily when squeezed. It loses its original toughness and is full of small holes after erosion. At this time, silicone or epoxy resin is filled into the jade, which we call glue injection.

After such artificial processing, inferior jadeite can look very beautiful and its texture may be transparent. In fact, it has neither collection value nor commercial value. Even if you wear it yourself, think about it, soaking it in chemicals, especially strong acids, will cause great harm to the human body. People who don’t understand may buy B-grade jade just to save money, but time will prove everything. Fake jade will oxidize over time and may turn black, yellow, etc. And this kind of change is not what the merchants say. People raise jade, and your jade absorbs the foul air in your body. Therefore, how to identify B-grade jadeite is a big problem we encounter.

What is C-grade jadeite?

C-grade jade is dyed jade. We all know that the best color of jade is green. What if there is no green? The unscrupulous merchants will be dyed green! C-grade jadeite takes advantage of the mentality that the greener the jadeite, the more expensive it is. Jadeite with poor texture and no color is dyed and then injected with glue to wrap it.

Some people said, huh! If it is dyed, I can tell the difference by just soaking it. If it is dyed, I will definitely discolor it by soaking it or boiling it at high temperature. 1. Learn to see the surface structure

Under a 10x magnifying glass, we can see that the surface of A-grade jade is smooth, especially the older jade. Moreover, A-grade jade has strong reflective properties, forming light spots, and the surface scratches or polishing lines are relatively orderly. The surface of B-grade products is rough, the luster is dull, there are continuous corrosion lines or corrosion pits, and the surface structure is disordered.

2. Learn to see the gloss

When we use our naked eyes to distinguish between A-grade and B-grade jade, we can look at the gloss. This gloss refers to the gloss under natural light. We see that A-grade jade has a strong glassy gloss, which is warm and transparent. B-grade jade has a resinous luster, or a waxy luster. It looks highly transparent, but the luster is dull and lacks spirituality. The edges of B-grade and C-grade jadeite often show a faint bluish-purple light, which is the color of the reflected light from the organic gum that fills it.

3. Learn to see colors

The color of A-grade natural jade is very natural. To put it simply, it is mostly uneven. Some colors are very bright, and some are very dim. We can see the color roots when we use strong light. The colors are also very layered, and we can see an obvious transition. The colors of B-grade and C-grade products give people an unnatural and loose feeling. The color edges often diverge, the color appears to float, and the color root cannot be seen or is not obvious. The color of C goods is evil, unnatural and exaggerated, and the color is evenly distributed in a net-like manner.

4. Learn to see the internal structure

A-grade jadeite has fly wings visible on its polished surface and orange peel texture inside, which is a characteristic of jadeite. B-grade jadeite has been corroded by strong acid, so under a magnifying glass you can see a network of acid-etched lines and tiny glue-injected cracks. When exposed to ultraviolet light, the filling will emit white fluorescence. C-grade jadeite has been dyed. When observed under the light, the color is uniform. The internal filling is distributed in a network pattern, and the color floats on the surface. The color will become much lighter under direct strong light. When you look at C-grade jadeite through a color filter, you can see the changes in coloring.
