How to tell the authenticity of C-grade jadeite with the naked eye!

C-grade jade refers to jade and its finished products that have been artificially treated with foreign dyes or drugs. The name of C-grade jadeite comes from "Color", which means adding color or dyeing. The first letter C is taken to represent this type of jadeite. The method is to use high temperature and high pressure to penetrate the dye into the originally colorless jade, dyeing it all or partly into emerald green or purple, etc., but its color will fade and become dull over time. Below, I will introduce the common classification and production methods of jadeite C goods:

What is C-grade jadeite (I)

Classification of C-grade Jadeite

1. Dyeing dyes can be divided into two types: organic dyes and inorganic (Cr salt) dyes.

2. According to the degree of dyeing, it can be divided into three types: complete dyeing, partial dyeing and color addition.

3. Some products are acid-washed to remove impurities and then filled with dye, commonly known as "B+C" products.

What is C-grade jadeite (Part 2)

Tips: C-grade jade is commonly dyed green, but some are dyed yellow, purple, and red. The purpose of adding color is to satisfy people's pursuit and love of jade color. However, dyed jade has poor durability. When exposed to ultraviolet rays, high temperatures or contact with chemical liquids, the dye will change or dissolve, which is often called "fading", affecting its wearing ability.
