How to choose jadeite of various colors?

How many colors does jadeite have? Is there black jade? How to choose jadeite of other colors? What should I pay attention to when purchasing? With these questions from jade lovers, I would like to share some of my thoughts with you.

First of all, no matter what color the jade is, it is best to choose the one with positive color if your financial conditions allow. Do not think that only the emerald green color can be thick, bright, pretty, and correct. In fact, this is a universal rule. Remember!

Secondly, if your financial situation allows, it is best to choose jadeite with good quality. If your budget is limited, you can lower your requirements and choose jadeite with fine texture.

Here are some tips on how to choose jadeite of various colors:

1. Green: saturated, rich, not biased

Many collectors recognize that green is the most valuable color in jade. However, if there is no quality at all, the value of the jadeite will still not be high even if it is full green. When looking at green, you need to see whether it contains gray and black tones. If it has gray tones, the green will look "dirty"; if it has black tones, the color will become darker. The mixture of gray and black tones will make the color of green jadeite dull.

2. Purple: Delicate and rich

Purple is also called violet or spring color. Strictly speaking, the output of purple jade is not particularly small. The pieces are large, and most of them are lotus root powder-like. The crystal grains are usually coarse and the transparency is low. The truly valuable among violets are the delicate and colorful purple jadeite. The price of this kind of jadeite has risen sharply, which is in sharp contrast to the general purple jadeite with light or dark color and rough texture.

3. Red: Be transparent, not burnt red

From a sensory perspective, red is richer and more beautiful than yellow. But not all red colors are of high value, only those red jadeites of good quality are more valuable. However, there is a problem with collecting red jadeite, that is, a kind of burnt red jadeite can often be seen in the market. Although some jade lovers and merchants do not approve of burned red jade, in fact, if the red jade is truly burned well, it can also be very outstanding. I would like to remind all jade lovers on this point, but it still depends on personal preference.

4. Yellow: Transparent and rich

Generally speaking, yellow will only become an advantage of jadeite when the color is transparent, the texture is fine, and the yellow is very rich and beautiful. These yellow colors are often used in clever carvings to add a lot of color to the jade. However, dull yellow color and poor water content are often the shortcomings of jadeite, or "dirty" in the words of the industry.

5. Black: The darker the better under natural light, the greener the better after lighting.

The black jade is the black jadeite available on the market today. Black jade was not recognized in the past, but with the popularity of black jade in Taiwan, its market value has been discovered. In the eyes of black jade lovers, black jade has a deep color and has the meaning of warding off evil and avoiding danger. However, black jade is not currently the mainstream variety in the market. As more and more people accept it, it has great room for appreciation.
