Jadeite, jadeite jade, Burmese jadeite, what kind of jade is that?

Jadeite, jadeite jade, Burmese jadeite jade, of course some people also call it jade (although it is not completely correct, it is a member of the jade family after all). Many people may not know what jadeite is, or what kind of jade it is, but it can be seen in our daily lives.

In daily life, the jade articles you or your family members carry may be jadeite. So how many people know the origin of the name of jadeite? So what is its nature? How many people know about its origin, how it is formed, and what is its development history? How many grades and colors are there? How many people are aware of the processing process from raw materials to finished products? How to distinguish it? What are the types of jade? What is its development history in China?

Jade is complex, diverse, and charming, so our predecessors have said that jadeology is a complex natural science subject. We have been engaged in jade research for many years and have our own unique understanding of jade. Let us slowly unveil the mysterious veil of jade!

The name of jadeite jade comes from the fact that in ancient times, there was a bird called the kingfisher, whose feathers were brightly colored in jade yellow and emerald green. When the ancients discovered this type of jade, because its color was similar to the color of the kingfisher's feathers, they named it jadeite jade (of course, jadeite has more than these two colors, there are many other colors). Of course, some people call it Burmese jadeite based on its place of origin. In the early days, because jade was mainly processed in Tengchong, China, it was also called Tengchong jade.

The mineral composition of jadeite: mainly jadeite (jadeite is mainly composed of an aggregate of silicate mineral salts in the pyroxene family), which is divided into omphacite, sodium chrome pyroxene, nepheline, hornblende, albite, etc. Its main component is sodium aluminum silicate. Let's talk about the chemical composition of jadeite. Since its main component is sodium aluminum silicate, if there is a main component, there must be a auxiliary component. It is currently known that jadeite contains at least 30 trace elements such as Ca, Cr, Ni, Mn, Mg, and Fe.

Jade is judged from the perspective of gemstones based on its three basic physical quantities: hardness, density, and refractive index. The hardness of jade (approximately between 6.5 and 7) is about 3.33, the relative density of jade (approximately between 3.25 and 3.40) is usually considered standard in the gemstone industry. The refractive index of jade (approximately between 1.65 and 1.67) is usually considered standard in the gemstone industry.

The main production areas of jadeite (at least 90% of the world's jadeite production) are the deposits around the Wulou River basin at the junction of Sagaing Province and Kachin State in northern Myanmar (because this is the largest jadeite of gem-grade quality discovered in the world). Of course, there are also Guatemala (whose current output accounts for approximately 3%-5% of the jadeite production in the Chinese market, mainly Yongchu material and blue water material), the United States, Japan and other places.

Research has shown that the formation of jade is based on the specific conditions of low temperature and high pressure, when various mineral elements condense into crystals. After countless years of erosion by time and space, the jade people see today is formed. After artificial mining and a series of processing, it becomes the jade wares that people love.

Let’s stop here for today. Next, let’s talk about its development history. Are you looking forward to it? If you like it, please support it! Let’s discuss more!
