Investment tips for fine jadeite: what will become the “dark horse” of value-added in the next decade?

Investment tips for fine jadeite: what will become the “dark horse” of value-added in the next decade?

Perhaps people over the age of 50 have had the same experience as I did. When I was in my twenties or thirties, I still didn’t know what jade was, let alone collect a few pieces. At that time, jade was like the best of the best, out of reach. In the blink of an eye, there are a huge number of people who own jade, and there are people who specialize in collecting fine products. Twenty or thirty years ago, jade was a treasure, but now people are much more particular about it. People pay attention to color, water, and quality, and even regard it as an investment. Now the annual output of jade is not decreasing, but gradually increasing. The number of good jade is not decreasing, but there are more collectors and sellers. I agree that resource shortage does not mean market shortage, especially in this era of material surplus.

In recent years, I have often dealt with fine products. I always go to many places where fine products are sold to appreciate them. I often feel that many consumers are fooled by unscrupulous businessmen because they are not familiar with fine products and cannot often come into contact with them. So, does a simple jadeite have a glass bottom or a glass type?

In fact, any jade item with a glass bottom (type) is very expensive. Glass bottom and glass type are often used interchangeably, but strictly speaking, they are not the same thing.

Glass bottom, that is, the object as a whole is transparent like glass, and has the hardness of glass. The glass hardness mentioned in this article refers to the glass texture above 2 cm. The glass type focuses on the feeling of glass-like hardness. The latter also requires good water head, but does not explicitly require the object to be as transparent as glass. Therefore, you can often see old objects with five or six points of water, which are crowned as glass-type "bottom". When glass bottom is scarce, many ice-type or ice-bottom objects are also called glass-bottom "type". Due to the scarcity of real glass-bottom objects, it is difficult to find one in some large shopping malls. It is common to call good materials with a sense of hardness, ice bottom or seven or eight points of water head as glass-bottom "type", but investing in it is not the same thing. The real glass bottom will definitely appreciate more than the glass type due to its special beauty and the scarcity of raw materials. Therefore, mastering the standards of glass bottom is the first step to correctly invest in glass jade.

The editor also believes that buying fine jadeite, no matter what you think, is an investment in nature. Just like investing in the stock market, antiques, etc., you must pay attention to investment skills. You can't just buy it when you see green. I suggest that when buying fine jadeite, you should advocate such a concept: it should not only be beautiful, but also appreciate in value! Can be passed down from generation to generation.
