Have jade at home but don’t know whether it’s real or not? A few tips to help you easily distinguish

With the continuous development of the economy, people's living standards are improving. Jade has also been sought after by many people because of its preciousness.

However, due to its huge market space, counterfeiting is also common, so it is particularly important to know how to detect the authenticity of jade.

Today, I will share with you some simple and practical jade detection methods.

1. Water-holding

Jade has a strong water-holding capacity. We can drop a few drops of water on natural jade and observe the direction of the water droplets. If the water droplets are very prominent, then the probability of it being real jade is greatly increased.

2. Surface structure

The structure of natural jade is clear, and the better the water quality, the less obvious the structure. Even after polishing, surface scratches and polishing lines are aligned in the same direction.

3. Identify by weight

Since the density of jade itself is relatively large, we can hold jade in our hands and move it up and down a few times. We can feel a heavy downward pressure. If we feel this, it may be real jade. When you hold fake jade in your hand, it will feel light and there is no downward pressure.

4. Identify by tapping

We can tie the jade with a rope, hang the jade in the air with the rope, and then gently knock the jade with an agate stick. The sound made by knocking the genuine jade is very crisp. If it is fake jade, the sound it makes when knocked will be dull.

5. A bowl of water

Connect the jadeite to the silk thread, place a cup of water on a precision electronic balance and reset it to zero; place the jadeite in the cup and note the weight; lift the jadeite with the silk thread, not exceeding the water surface but always away from the bottom of the cup, and record the weight again. The weight of the jade in water is divided by the weight of the water to get a value. If the value is between 3.3 and 3.7, then congratulations, this jade is real.
