Do you know how to identify jadeite? Let me tell you about the identification and color appreciation of jadeite

Jade has a very important position in the Chinese world. In addition to its commercial value, its cultural and historical influence cannot be underestimated. Jade's color and texture are complex and varied. If you started collecting jade jewelry 20 years ago, you will find that it has changed a lot, but buying or investing in it is full of knowledge. In this issue, we take jade as the theme, and the content covers its variety, color, style and even market conditions and appreciation tips.

Simple identification of jadeite ABC

Grade A: natural jadeite, the crystal structure is not destroyed during the processing, the color is natural, and adding Sichuan wax is allowed.

Grade B jade: The jade material is bleached with chemicals (acid) to remove impurities and then filled with resin. Makes it look clean and shiny.

C goods: dyed with chemical dyes, colors include green, red, purple, yellow, etc. Make the originally light or even colorless jade become full-color.

The color in the cracks was found to be not iron oxide but organic dye after Raman spectroscopy testing.

B+C grade jade: After being acid-washed, filled with glue and dyed, it is commonly known as B+C grade jade. Currently, the dyed ones on the market are mainly B+C.

The purpose of the acid-washing and filling treatment is to remove brown tones, make the green more vivid, remove opaque impurities in the gaps between the particles, improve transparency, and also fill existing cracks in the jade.

Identification characteristics of dyed jadeite

Conventional dyeing is called C-grade jadeite. Normally, the hue of dyed green jadeite is yellowish and uniform; but now that dyeing technology has improved, the hue and color of dyed jadeite are very similar to those of natural jadeite; secondly, dyed jadeite is prone to have a "tree root-like structure", which means that the dye enters and distributes along the cracks in the jadeite, just like a tree root, which is easy to distinguish.
