Color refers to the color of jadeite. This is easy to understand, but it is impossible to recognize all colors. Its variations are subtle and varied, and combined with the rich expressions of Chinese characters, there are no less than a thousand ways to describe the color of jadeite. We mainly understand these major color systems, as they remain essentially the same!

Jade has seven main colors, including white, green, purple, yellow, red, blue and black. Each color can be further subdivided or even mixed. ① Colorless (white). Colorless jade is composed of pure jadeite pyroxene and has a single component. It has fine grains, tight structure and high transparency, like colorless glass jadeite. If its particles are coarse, the bonding method is poor, or it contains cracks, impurities, etc., it will appear opaque white, such as white with green.

② Green. The green color of jadeite is mainly formed by trace amounts of elements such as chromium. The higher the content, the darker the color. When the aluminum in the jadeite molecules is replaced by a small amount of chromium, it appears light green; when the aluminum is replaced by an appropriate amount of chromium, it appears bright emerald green; when the chromium content is very high, the green of the jadeite turns into dark green or even black. This green can be divided into many types.

③Purple. Light purple jade is also called spring color. There are varieties such as pink purple, red purple, blue purple, and eggplant purple. Traditional concepts believe that purple is caused by manganese. Some people also believe that it is caused by ion transitions between different valence states of iron elements or is related to the presence of potassium ions.

④Yellow. The yellow color of jade is mainly trivalent iron ions. High-quality yellow jade is produced in relatively small quantities and is a secondary color formed artificially by jade.

⑤ Red. The red color of jadeite is formed by the high iron content, and is called red jadeite. It is mainly brown-red in tone, which is a secondary color formed by jadeite.

⑥ Blue. The blue of jadeite is mostly gray-blue to darker blue. The trace iron element replaces the aluminum in jadeite, resulting in a grayish blue. When the iron content is very high, a dark gray-blue color will appear, or close to black. Sometimes blue can also be caused by the presence of large amounts of minerals such as omphacite, aegis, etc., which makes the overall color blue.

⑦Black. Black jade is also called black jade. It is not really black, but a jadeite that is green and black with a hint of green in it. Its surface appears black, but under light it appears a deep dark green or dark green. There are four common types: black chicken jade, dry green, black jade, and black oil green jade.

For example, there are two colors, "Double Happiness", "Spring Color", "Yellow and Green", etc.; now, yellow and green jadeite with a white base is often called "tricolor jadeite".

If a piece of jade has any three obvious colors of red, yellow, blue, green, purple and black (except white), it will be called "three-color jade" or "tricolor jade", which means "happiness, wealth and longevity" and "the Three Heroes of Peach Garden".

For example, if a piece of jade has any four relatively obvious colors including red, yellow, blue, green, purple and black (except white), then... It is almost impossible to see many colors at the same time on a small piece of jade. They can only appear on larger raw stones. They are mainly used to make large carvings such as ornaments and have very high collection value.

If a piece of jade contains any five obvious colors of red, yellow, blue, green, purple, black (except white), it will be called "Fu Lu Shou Xi Cai". The most valuable multi-color jade is "Wu Fu Lin Men". It is imaginable how difficult it is to have five different colors appear on a piece of jade together.

In short, the quality, water and color of jade are inseparable and influence each other. The price of jade is also determined by the combination of these three factors. They represent the grade of jadeite. When purchasing jadeite, you must refer to these three standards at the same time, and of course focus on some of them. If all three are good, it is top-grade jade and its price is also very high. Green is the most valuable color among jadeite, and of course there are many grades of green.
