Jadeite water classification | Teach you how to choose good jadeite easily

Many people love jade, but the related terms and names of jade are also confusing. Especially for novices, it is not easy to accurately distinguish and identify the quality of jade.

When we talk about the types of jadeite, we usually think of glass type, ice type, etc. In fact, in the traditional classification in the past, "type" was divided into only two types, "old pit type" and "new pit type".

The old mine type and the new mine type have nothing to do with the year of the jade. "Old" and "new" do not refer to the age of jade, but to the quality of jade. The structure of old pit jade is tighter and the internal particles are finer, while the structure of new pit jade is relatively loose and more prone to mutation. Generally speaking, the quality of jadeite from old mines is better than that from new mines.

1. Glass type:

It is the type of jade with the highest transparency and the most delicate internal structure, and its appearance looks very much like transparent glass. Glass-type jadeite generally has a lot of water, and the surface of good glass-type jadeite will fluoresce. It is the highest-grade jadeite on the market.

2. Ice

The transparency is slightly lower than that of the glass type. Although the texture is also transparent, it has more impurities than the glass type. Among them, the ice type with relatively few impurities and high transparency is also called high ice, which is very close to the texture of the glass type.

Its appearance is very similar to ice cubes in the refrigerator. It is a translucent jade, giving people a feeling of ice and jade purity. It is also a high-end jade grade on the market.

3. Bean seeds

Bean-type jade is the most numerous type of jade. As the saying goes, "nine out of ten types are beans", which shows how wide the range of bean-type jade is. The crystal structure of bean-type jadeite is very rough, and the bean-type crystals can be seen with the naked eye; it has almost no transparency and the glossiness is relatively poor. The bean-type jadeite with good water head is called ice bean. Bean-type jade is a relatively low-grade and common type of jade.

4. Oily green

Let us popularize the science: There are three categories in the Oily Green variety that are more popular in the market, namely the Blue Water, Green Water and Clear Water that many people like. Some merchants classify them into a separate category, but in essence they also belong to the Oily Green variety, but the color is brighter and the cultivation level is generally above high ice.

5. Anthocyanin

As the name suggests, this kind of jade looks rather "flashy". The structure of the Huaqing variety is relatively rough and its transparency is relatively poor; the base color is light green, light gray, or bean green. The distribution of these greens is irregular, with different depths and no transition, and the shape is also irregular. It belongs to the medium and low-grade jadeite.

6. Dry green

The green of the dry green variety is generally very bright, but unevenly distributed, and is often covered with many black spots; the base is very rough and dry, with almost no transparency, and belongs to the medium and low-grade jadeite.

7. White background blue

It is not difficult to understand from the name that this kind of jade has a whitish base color with clusters of bright green distributed on it, which makes the green and white distinct, and the overall look is very refreshing.

8. Hibiscus

Hibiscus jade is like a blooming hibiscus flower, with a light green color that is pure and soft, uniform overall color, delicate and warm texture, and relatively high transparency. It is a mid-to-high-end jade.

9. Dragon Stone

It is a legendary top-grade jadeite, also known as the Shenlong species. It is emerald green, bright and bright, with even color distribution, strong fluorescence, and very beautiful cotton. It is a high-quality jadeite. However, it is said that it was discontinued as early as the 1970s.

10. Horse Tooth

The texture of horse-tooth jade is relatively fine, but not transparent, and looks a bit like porcelain; the color is mostly green, and it looks good at first glance, but it is all color without quality. There are thin white strips distributed in the green, and it is a mid-range jade.
