It only takes one song to help you understand the jade identification certificate

When it comes to buying jadeite, it is best to choose one that can provide an appraisal certificate. In the comments below, many jade friends left messages: appraisal certificates can also be forged and are not foolproof, which Brother Xuan agrees with.

However, the information about jadeite on the appraisal certificate is very valuable. If a jadeite cannot be issued with a relevant appraisal certificate, then its origin and quality will be difficult to guarantee. Of course, even with the appraisal certificate, we cannot take it lightly.

It is undeniable that there is a phenomenon of using forged appraisal certificates to pass off fake goods as genuine products in the market. Therefore, we not only need to master basic jade knowledge, but also need to master how to identify jade identification certificates. Brother Xuan has compiled the following 3 points to help all jade lovers identify appraisal certificates.

First point: the authority of the appraisal agency

The institutions in my country that can currently issue jade identification certificates are generally jewelry identification service agencies, which are established by the State Quality Supervision Bureau or the Jewelry Association, or by companies with identification qualifications.

Generally, English abbreviations often appear on the certificate: NGTC (often called national inspection) and NJQSIC (often called first inspection). Both of them are very authoritative appraisal institutions, namely the National Jewelry and Jadeite Quality Supervision and Inspection Center and the National Jewelry Quality Supervision and Inspection Center.

The national certification mark (that is, the qualification of the institution) must be printed on the appraisal certificate, and there are five types of institutional qualifications: CMA, CAL, CNAL, CNAS, and ILAC-MRA (representing certifications from different national institutions, which will not be elaborated here). The CMA mark is the basic requirement of national law for testing and inspection agencies (agencies with this mark are legal inspection agencies).

In other words, the appraisal certificate must have the CMA mark. If not, the credibility of the appraisal certificate will be questionable. Careful friends will find that some appraisal certificates even have three signs at the same time, which is equivalent to "three insurances", and the credibility will naturally be higher.

Second point: Identification results

The appraisal conclusion on the certificate is an important basis for judging whether the jade is A-grade. If it is A-grade, it will be marked with words such as "A-grade jade"; if it is B or C grade, it will be marked with words such as "Jade (processed)" or "Jade (injected with glue)".

In addition, the identification results also include relevant information on jade identification elements (refractive index, density, color, etc.). According to the country's mandatory regulations, the above identification results are all machine-printed. If they are handwritten, they will be unreliable.

The third point: Certificate number

Each appraisal certificate has an independent number, as well as the contact information and website of the appraisal agency. You can request the appraisal results by providing the certificate number via telephone or the Internet. Compare it with the appraisal certificate in your hand to judge its credibility.

In addition, the certificate will be stamped with the appraisal agency’s seal or anti-counterfeiting mark. If neither is true, then it is unreliable.

In the end, the best way to prevent it is to ask the other party to provide an appraisal certificate from an authoritative organization (such as the National Inspection Commission, the China University of Geosciences, or other provincial appraisal agencies). Naturally, it is more credible than some appraisal agencies whose names Brother Xuan has never even heard of.
