A simple method to identify the authenticity of jadeite

A simple method to identify the authenticity of jadeite

Now that the Internet is so developed, many jade lovers buy jade online. However, the jade market is mixed, and it is normal to pass inferior products off as high-quality ones. The most feared thing is buying fakes. Today, 101 Hot Sales will summarize some simple methods for you to identify the authenticity of jadeite.

There are mainly two types of fakes in the market. One is B+C jadeite, which is jadeite that has been acid-washed, dyed and filled with glue. This type of jade is called processed jade. The other is quartzite, serpentine, water foam and other jades that are lower in value than jadeite to impersonate jade. We call this type of product jade-like jade.

For B+C jadeite, we would like to share with you the simplest method, which is to shine a UV fluorescent lamp in a completely dark environment. There will be a blue and white fluorescence, just like a magic mirror, and you will know the truth at a glance. If you don’t have an ultraviolet fluorescent lamp, a banknote detector lamp will also work. White fluorescence is the most typical reaction between glue and acid. Natural jade does not fluoresce under ultraviolet fluorescent light.

Our warm reminder is: The formal method of identifying B+C jade is to look at the acid etching patterns and dyeing marks, but it is more difficult for consumers and requires a reference object to see them, so the simplest methods are shared with everyone.

For jadeite similar to jade, its material is natural, but it is not jadeite. For this type of jadeite similar to jade, it is mainly distinguished by the surface gloss: jadeite has glass gloss, serpentine has oily gloss, Hetian jade also has oily gloss, water foam has waxy gloss, and agate has silky gloss. Our warm reminder: jadeite that has a dull glow is basically not jadeite.

If you can’t confirm whether it is natural jade, you can learn about us. We have shared a lot of jade knowledge and hope to help more jade lovers.
