The birth of the Ten Million Pagoda: 5 years, 6 jade carving masters, and more than 1,000 kilograms of jadeite raw stone!

Jade, in essence, is just a beautiful stone. However, in the hands of jade carvers, it can be transformed into an amazing work of art that makes people admire their superb skills. Today, I will share with you the birth process of the next million-dollar pagoda.

A collector from Suzhou obtained a large piece of jadeite weighing more than 1,000 kilograms in his early years. Although the collector was keen on collecting and playing with jade, he was not a carver after all. Looking at this "giant" that he had almost spent all his family's wealth to buy, he didn't know what to do for a while!

In that era, there were only state-owned jade carving factories, and they generally did not process jade for external parties. Fortunately, after the leaders of the factory saw this piece of raw material, they were very much looking forward to seeing it transformed into a rare treasure, so they selected six skilled craftsmen from the factory and spent five years studying the carving plan!

Limited by the shape of the whole stone and the need to avoid certain flaws and cracks, this group of top-notch jade carving masters in the country at the time decided to make a bold innovation - designing a jade pagoda!

This giant jade pagoda is carved based on the prototype of Suzhou's landmark building, Beisi Pagoda.

The design of this jade tower is very rigorous, with an octagonal base. The entire jade carving is based on an octagonal base, with an extension line along each of the eight corners, and finally the eight extension lines intersect at its top.

The pagoda is 1.38 meters high and the base is 70 centimeters in diameter. Each floor is like an octagonal pavilion with flying eaves hanging down. There are seventy-two jade bells, and at the bottom there are two jade Buddhas, which are exquisitely carved, with natural and serene expressions, and seem to come out of nowhere, which is breathtaking.

The tower body is mainly made of hollow carvings, with carved patterns running through and connected, with smooth lines and connected surfaces.

The screen has a thin body, classical patterns and is exquisitely carved; the auspicious clouds are lively, the eaves are high on stilts, and the wind chimes are crisp, making people feel as if they are there and floating in the air.

The most important point is!

This pagoda was not carved as a whole using traditional methods, but was "pieced together" from many small pieces!

This is not jade carving at all, it's clearly a jade carver playing with Lego bricks!

Although it looks simple, the craftsmanship involved is much more complicated than other types of carving. It is buckled on at an angle, and each layer must be rotated, so the precision requirement is also very high! !

This jade carving work, to a certain extent, represents the pinnacle of Suzhou craftsmanship at that time, and even the national craftsmanship . It fully displays the beauty of the connotation and shape of jade. Even in the contemporary era, it is one of the best carving works. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a rare treasure!

How much is this jade pagoda worth?

To be honest, it is difficult to measure the value of such works with money, but someone offered an eight-digit price. The owner still chose to collect it or just put it on display!

To be honest, this emerald pagoda is so beautiful and exquisite. Are you amazed by it?
