Jade A grade

That is, pure natural jade, without any artificial processing. It is left as it was dug out, with only a traditional and gentle surface waxing treatment.

Jade B-grade

Some cheap jade with many cracks, loose structure and low market value, such as Grade 83, are neutralized by acid washing to remove impurities, and then artificial glue such as epoxy resin is added to stick the jade together. This processed jade is B-grade jade.

Jadeite C

Regardless of whether it is filled with glue or not, and regardless of what processing methods are used, as long as it is an artificially dyed product, we call it a C product.

Pure C goods appear less frequently in the market, and most of the goods that appear are B+C goods.

B+C Goods

Jade that is both filled with glue and dyed is called B+C goods.

Identification method

Because A-grade jade is naturally formed and has not been artificially processed, its texture is very dense.

First, identify it through visual perception. Observe the surface of the jade with the naked eye.

The surface luster of normal natural A-grade jadeite is extremely strong, showing a glassy luster. The impurities inside are unevenly distributed, and the color distribution is generally well-defined and uneven.

Second, identify by feel. Jadeite is the densest of all jades. When you hold a piece of jade in your hand, you will feel it weighs a lot.

If it is other types of jade, the feeling of falling will not be as strong as jadeite, and it will have a light and frivolous feeling.

Third, identify by hearing. Natural A-grade jade has a tight texture. If you put two pieces of natural A-grade jade together and knock them against each other, the sound is high-pitched and crisp.

If it is replaced with B-grade jadeite, its sound will be dull and without tension.

You can also use professional methods to identify it. Natural A-grade jadeite will have some characteristics on the surface, such as orange peel, jadeite texture and so on.

When the cracks of natural A-grade jadeite are exposed to light, they will block the light. The stronger the light, the more obvious the cracks become. It blocks the light to a certain extent.

If it is B-grade or B+C-grade jade, when it is exposed to light, the light will pass through the cracks and the cracks will disappear.

B goods and B+C goods will have a layer of acid-etched mesh on the surface.

What is acid etching? Because its structure is very loose and the jade is full of cracks, when it is soaked in strong acid, spider web-like patterns will form on the surface. This is the acid-etched network pattern.

Another characteristic of B-grade and B+C-grade jadeite is the pits filled with glue. Because things that crack naturally will definitely have fissures and cracks, after these cracks are injected with glue, it can be seen with the naked eye that there is a gelatinous substance inside.

You can also identify it by color. The color of A-grade jadeite is green and is generally distributed in vein-like and strip-like forms. Purple is generally distributed in granular form. Their distribution is clearly defined and traceable, and the colors are unevenly distributed.

As for B+C goods, no matter how beautiful the color is, it is still artificially added, so the color is generally clumpy, with no visible boundaries at all, and the color is consistent everywhere. When held up to light, the colors fade.

The color of B+C goods has invaded the cracks, so it looks like stripes, like the color and shape of loofah sponge, instead of the vein-like distribution of natural jade.
