Three tips to teach you how to distinguish fake jade with the naked eye

The jade identification standard that everyone agrees on now is to divide jade into three grades: A, B, and C. Grade A jade is natural jade that has not been artificially treated, but includes jade that has undergone optimization processes such as burning red, baking, and waxing; Grade B jade is jade that has been treated with acid washing and filling with glue; Grade C jade is jade that has been artificially dyed.

So how do you identify a fake?

1. Look at the jadeite

"Cui Xing" and "Fly Wings" are just different names, they mean the same thing.

When you see this kind of jadeite texture, it is mostly jadeite. The reason why I say "mostly" is not because the jadeite texture is not unique to jadeite, but because some things with quartz components often have similar flashes, so we are afraid that you will mistakenly identify it.

2. Look at the internal structure

The interlaced structure of threads is sometimes just a single thread in better germplasm. (Written term is called fiber interlaced structure)

The structure of jade's interlaced threads is determined at the microscopic level.

Look against the light to see the interweaving of silk threads and the yellow hue.

3. Acid-etched reticulation that may be observed in B-grade jadeite;

Acid-etched reticulation refers to the process of jadeite being acid-washed, filled with glue, and then carved and polished, where the hardness of the colloid filling the cracks is significantly lower than that of the surrounding jadeite, so it is significantly cut and polished to form more concave grooves. These small grooves are distributed along small cracks and gaps between particles, and when connected together they form a spider-web-like surface pattern.
