A piece of black jadeite, like charcoal. I didn’t expect such a big surprise after receiving it!

According to legend, Guanyin has a gentle heart, dignified manners, a deep understanding of worldly affairs, and is always safe and sound. She can eliminate disasters and difficulties, stay away from calamities, and save all living beings with great compassion. She is the embodiment of saving the suffering, and therefore has always been loved by Chinese men. Black jade is characterized by calmness and solemnity. Today I will share the creation process of a piece of black jade "Guan Yin Viewing Lotus". Let's appreciate the charm of jade carving together!

This is a piece of black jadeite. Don’t be fooled by its black color, which looks like charcoal. In fact, it is a new member of the jadeite family. In recent years, more and more jade players like to collect black jadeite, and its value has been rising!

The material is black on the outside, but it emits a faint green light under the light. It is a nice piece of jadeite. In addition, there are no cracks or other defects on the whole material, so I decided to make a "Guan Yin Viewing Lotus".

First, use a pencil to simply draw the design idea on the jade, and then take out the largest card shape. For mid- to high-end jade brands, if the size is one point larger, the value will differ by ten points, so usually a rough draft is made first to obtain the largest shape to ensure the maximum value of the jade!

After taking out the shape, use an oil pen to paint the designed Guanyin pattern on the black jadeite as a reference line when making the embryo.

Use a small round stone to grind along the drawn lines to polish out the general shape of Guanyin and the lotus, and then smooth the position of the smooth body surface.

Sometimes the carving will be slightly different from the design, because new flaws may be discovered during the carving process, which requires adjustment; it is also possible that new and more reasonable ideas will be generated during the carving process. The original design had a plain upper left portion, but it was later discovered that this layout would be a bit monotonous, so the sculptor improvised and added a cloud of smoke as an embellishment to make the overall content richer.

Whether it is a formal Guanyin or a Guanyin brand, the face of Guanyin is always the most important reflection of the quality of the carving. After the overall shape is completed, the face of Guanyin needs to be carved. "Kind and dignified" is the most basic requirement for Guanyin's face.

After the face is completed, the details of Guanyin's clothing must be carved to bring out the flowing feeling of the clothes; the lotus petals must also be made three-dimensional and vivid; and the lines of the clouds and smoke must be smooth.

The back of the Guanyin plaque is actually perfect, but because the jadeite is black all over, it will look monotonous and dull if some patterns are not designed. So a picture of mountains in clouds and mist was designed to respond to the positive theme.

The carving on the back of the pendant is generally shallow relief, which is used to carve out the artistic conception to be expressed.

Finally, send it for polishing. The lighting effect is really good.
