To identify the authenticity of jadeite, it is enough to learn this article

It is now 2022, an era of information explosion, but many people's identification of jade is still based on the age of fire and knife carving. If you are the same, don't be nervous, just read this article carefully.

First of all, let’s correct a common misunderstanding here, which is what jade is. Many people have not yet figured out this concept. Jade is a general term. Most of the jade that southerners often refer to can be understood as jadeite, while the jade that northerners refer to can be understood as Hetian jade. As for agate, river jade, Xiuyan jade, etc., they can all be understood as a type of jade. So don't go to the store and pretend to be so knowledgeable and ask "Boss, can you show me some good jade?"

1. Magnifying glass: A magnifying glass is crucial in jadeite testing. Place the jadeite flat on the table, facing the light source, and use a magnifying glass to look at the reflected light on the surface of the jadeite to see if there are any acid etching marks. If so, discard this jadeite.

So what does the surface of natural jade look like? The polished surface of good jade will have an orange peel effect, BC goods have acid etching marks, and some other jades, such as quartzite and Xiuyan jade, have flat surfaces.

2. Ultraviolet light, which is an ultraviolet light, was used to check banknotes in the past. Dyed jade, commonly known as C goods, here we need to popularize a common sense question, that is, what are the ABCD goods of jade. Please note that many people mistakenly believe that A goods are the best jade, followed by BCD. Little do they know that ABCD is not a grade division, but has other meanings. To put it simply, Grade A jade is pure natural and untreated, Grade B jade is injected with glue, Grade C jade is dyed, and Grade D jade refers to other jades that are not jade. However, Grade C and Grade B jade are often sold together because they can only be dyed after acid etching and injection of glue.

Shine the jade under ultraviolet light. If it shows fluorescence, give up on it, as it is basically injected with glue.

These two simple tricks are the most practical. As for other easily confused varieties, we will talk about them in the next issue.
