Many jade lovers may have this question: Why do Buddhist themes occupy half of the jade works? In my opinion, this is mainly because many Chinese people believe in Buddhism. From the perspective of jade merchants, works with Buddhist themes are easier to circulate in the market and turn into cash; from the perspective of jade players, by making Buddhist-themed pendants, you can pray to the gods for peace and express good wishes! Today, the editor will share with jade friends the carving process of a jade Buddhist theme work! This is an oval-shaped jadeite with floating green flowers. The jade is old and moist, flawless, and covered with green flowers. The quality of the jade material itself is very good. Although the floating flowers are scattered, the jade lover still wants to use it to buy a Buddha statue for safety. Although the creation was difficult, the jade carver finally found the part where the Buddha's face was opened after diligent observation and careful analysis of the jade material. He then designed the pendant into a Buddha pendant, satisfying the jade lover's carving request. When making the embryo, the jade carver took into consideration a problem. Although it was reasonable to make the floating flowers into a dragon in terms of carving method, it did not make sense in terms of the meaning. Among the jade carving themes, there is only dragon Guanyin, but no dragon Buddha. So the jade carver considered changing the work midway to avoid the pendant coming out looking “neither fish nor fowl”. Although the work was modified midway, the posture and position of the Buddha were not changed. Only the flying dragon on the upper part of the pendant was changed to a lotus leaf, which did not destroy the overall balance of the pendant. What is unexpected is that after changing the intricately carved dragon to a lotus leaf, the overall pendant looks more watery and the main body of the Buddha is more prominent. In terms of polishing, the jade carver chooses semi-matte polishing. On the premise that most of the pendant is polished to bright finish, the Buddha statue is given a semi-matte treatment, which can further highlight the image of the Buddha statue and make it easier for people to focus their attention on the Buddha statue! The polishing effect is very good. The finished product is not only moist and glossy, but also the carving is delicate and vivid. Jade friends expressed their satisfaction on the spot after seeing the work. For a piece of jade, from the raw stone to the design, carving, polishing and finally to the finished product, every step and every process has rules to follow. Our jade carvers always follow the principle of "the jade must be well-crafted, the craftsmanship must have meaning, and the meaning must be auspicious" when designing and carving.
